Let's support the adoption of our animals by rebuilding the Ourém Municipal Kennel.
Storm Kristin partially destroyed the infrastructure of the Ourém Official Animal Shelter (Municipal Kennel/Cattery), preventing all administrative and veterinary work, namely the performance of all veterinary medical procedures, largely hindering the collection of stray animals and their sterilization, and consequently compromising adoptions.
In terms of strategic priorities, it falls under the following categories:
- Social development and inclusion;
- Strengthening territorial cohesion and community capacity.
Annually, the CRO collects around 350 stray animals, with an average of over 300 adoptions and subsequent sterilizations in recent years. These numbers give us a measure of the real impact of the service provided to the community in this area and the serious consequences of its abrupt interruption.
The beneficiaries of this intervention are all visitors to this location, including its workers and volunteers, ensuring the basic and necessary conditions for the building's operation. This refurbishment will allow for the resumption of normal visits, sterilizations, and animal adoptions, all carried out in this municipal building with reach throughout the entire municipality.
