The storm “Kristin” damaged the fire station in Vila Velha de Ródão, compromising emergency response; therefore, your support is essential to ensure the safety of the entire community.

The storm “Kristin” caused significant damage to the Fire Station of the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Velha de Ródão, compromising the structural integrity of the building and the operational capacity of the brigade. The partial destruction of the roof, issues with the drainage system, deterioration of interior spaces, and damage to the electrical installation undermine the safety conditions and functionality of this essential service.

Firefighters play a central role in protecting the population, responding daily to emergency situations and ensuring the safety of people and property. However, at present, their station does not meet the necessary conditions to carry out this mission with the required effectiveness, posing a real risk to the entire community.

The association responsible for managing this facility does not have sufficient financial resources to cover the required works. Therefore, this campaign is crucial. Your support will make it possible to restore the fire station and ensure that the Volunteer Firefighters can continue to fulfil their mission with safety, dignity, and operational readiness. Contributing is a direct investment in the protection of everyone.

About the author

The Humanitarian Association of the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Velha de Ródão (AHBVVVR) is an administrative public utility entity, founded on 29 June 1949, whose primary mission is to establish and maintain a volunteer fire brigade dedicated to assisting the injured and the sick, as well as protecting human life and property in emergency situations.

The operational capacity of the Humanitarian Association of the Volunteer Firefighters of Vila Velha de Ródão remains strong, supported by human and material resources suited to the demands of the territory it serves.

1. Human Resources
The Association’s permanent staff comprises 21 members, of whom 13 are male and 8 are female, reflecting a commitment to gender equality and the recognition of skills. This team is distributed as follows:

  • 4 members assigned to emergency medical services (INEM)
  • 3 members dedicated to non-urgent patient transport
  • 10 firefighters integrated into the Permanent Intervention Teams (EIP I and EIP II)
  • 1 member in the command structure
  • 2 members in administrative roles
  • 1 member assigned to cleaning duties

This structure ensures comprehensive coverage of emergency response missions while maintaining team readiness for complex incidents, particularly large-scale rural fires.

Budget and due dates

To restore this building to its function and ensure its safety, an investment of €185,000 is required. This amount is not just a figure; it represents the precise cost of repairing all damaged equipment and essential infrastructure.

We have a defined action plan, ready to begin. Between June and December 2026, we will dedicate six months to a comprehensive intervention to rebuild this facility. Your contribution is the driving force that will enable us to meet this timeline and ensure that, by the end of 2026, this project becomes a reality once again for everyone.
