I need your help, to be able to publish my book "WALKING IN MY BOOTS", because, as a new author, I get a distribution agreement with a publisher, but I have to pay the manufacture of 500 copies, for the 1st edition.
Hi, I'm Mário A. Sousa, aka "Cowboy" in the music world, where I belong with my heart and soul, as a musician, composer, vocalist, and bass player, of various musical projects, since the 80s. With many adventures, and a track record unusual, I have been writing a kind of diary, which has accompanied me over the years, and as I was forced to recreate myself as an artist during the long months of the pandemic, I decided to start writing a series of chronicles, chosen between the various notebooks that I have kept, with my life, my realities, and publish in a space that I created on the social network (a private reading group on facebook), periodically. What is certain is that the various chapters I published, with a certain chronological intention, were increasingly well received by the public, in this case, by the regular readers of the private group, (which in a short time grew quite reasonably, making some assiduous readers), who didn't take long to convince me to turn those chapters into book format. Obviously, motivated by the spirits, and the good reviews, I quickly got down to work, and during the pandemic, I wrote the book which I decided to call "WALKING IN MY BOOTS".
It's a book where I openly talk about my life adventure, reviewing good and bad moments, joys and sadness, successes and failures, but written in a simple way, as I speak, or think, where I don't spare some of the mistakes made, with just consequences, and prices to pay. It is a book where I tell everything in eight, (8), volumes, with 8 chapters per volume, and can easily reach 220 pages. I have been able to count on the help of a professional in the literary field, who has patiently made all the corrections to almost all the material I have written, by hand, in my notebooks. As an even greater help, it has been the same person, (Gabriela Sá), who transcribes the texts on her computer, giving form to the final manuscript, which is almost complete, with only the corrections to the last volume missing. Here I confess, that I didn't start this whole process, aiming to be rich, or famous writer, or just a writer, (because I'm just a musician, who knows how to tell stories), but after all the time of pandemic, I can't work, and without receiving tickets, or help from the State, with no family to be able to help, and just counting on me, and with some help from my ex-partner, and her son, (who grew up beside me), those Whoever I truly chose as my family, it is clear that if I manage to sell some books, and in this way recover little by little of everything I lost, during that nightmarish time, I am already immensely happy.
It so happens that at the moment, I have no money, and I am not able to do a self-editing of the book, so I went to "touch" a few doors, to at least inform myself about what is necessary for the publication of a literary work. . I got in touch with some national publishers, (among names they suggested to me, and some research I did personally, with the aim of getting to know "independent" publishers, who bet on new authors), to which I sent part of the manuscript in PDF format. . I got a lot of answers, some better than others, but basically asking for money for the publication of the book, with the exception of one that, by A + B, showed me they had read, and liked what they read, offering better conditions, in a very attractive system . Even if I can reach an agreement with a publisher, as I am a new author, without any weight in the literary market, it will always be with the objective of ensuring a good and efficient distribution of the books, in addition to the necessary promotion campaign, and strategy of marketing to sell the product, but I will have to invest in the manufacture of 500 units, (or 500 books), for a first edition.
