RESERVAE is the new cross-cultural magazine about SURF and CULTURE made in Ericeira, with love. You can now pre-order the first issue to be the first one getting it in October, when this project will finally be on paper!
What is the magazine about?
RESERVAE is the perfect blend of local traditions and the new international lifestyle: We let the locals present their surf spots. We highlight small traditional businesses. We give a stage to international projects. We bring all the news of the best events, in and around Ericeira. We travel to ancient times, to learn from local history.
RESERVAE is a print magazine, written in Portuguese and English, so everyone in this beautiful “vila” can learn from each other’s stories.
Why are we doing this?
Over the last few years, Ericeira has experienced a boom that has brought lots of people from all over the world. Many of them have stayed for a better quality of life and created with new co-working spaces, cafés and events their own international community.
Most of us feel that the foreign community is not really connecting with the locals, that there are two realities living in Ericeira. Our goal is to bring these communities a bit closer and to create something new in which both parts learn from each other.
How is it going to be?
Supporting this private project gives you the chance to finally have a high quality printed piece of journalism in your hands again. You can flip through the magazine of about 100 pages on thick paper with a decent design. You will find lots of awesome shots of local photographers, in-depth stories and up to date information about what’s going on in Ericeira and surroundings. You’ll be surprised about what this old fisherman’s village has to offer!
Wait! Reserva? Reserve?
RESERVAE - You can read this name in Portuguese as “Reserva” or in English as “Reserve”. We all heard about the “World Surfing Reserve”, but we believe that not only the surf spots around Ericeira but also its local culture needs to be protected, preserved and retained. Welcoming all progress and change of the last years: This place is special and deserves a special homage.
So, it’s on you now to give us the chance to create something new together, as one community. Let's build bridges between the local and the foreign community, let us show each other's stories, traditions and values and let’s - in the end - understand each other better.

Nas últimas semanas temos estado em silêncio, mas apenas por uma boa razão: Estávamos a trabalhar na produção do primeiro número da revista e conseguimos finalmente entregar os ficheiros de impressão. Foi realmente um sprint desde que ganhámos a campanha até finalizarmos a primeira edição!
Assim, estamos muito felizes por anunciar que teremos as revistas impressas na próxima semana, no dia 3 de outubro, e que começaremos a entregar e a enviar os exemplares para vocês. Por isso, procurem nas vossas caixas de correio, uma revista fantástica, produzida com muito amor e carinho, estará lá à vossa espera :)
Para os que compraram o "pacote da festa": estamos a tentar encontrar uma boa solução para uma festa de lançamento da revista, mas estamos dependentes dos espaços possíveis e temos de ser um pouco mais pacientes. Dear supporter of RESERVAE,
The last weeks have been silent but only for a good reason: We were working on producing the very first issue of the magazine and could finally hand in the print files. It was literally a sprint from winning the campaign to finalizing the very first issue!
So we’re super happy to announce that we will have the printed magazines next week on October 3rd and will start to deliver and send the copies to you. So have a look in your letter boxes, an amazing magazine, produced with lots of love and care will be waiting for you there :)
For those who booked the “party package”: we are trying to find a good solution for a magazine launch party but are dependent on the possible venues and need to be a bit more patient. As soon as we have a date and a location we will let you know. Looking forward to celebrate with all of you soon!

We’ve made it!! What a thriller: 3 hours before deadline we reached the target and closed the campaign with even 102%, 14.644€ in total.
Thank you all so much for your help and trust in us! The entire RESERVAE team is super happy and grateful for every small or big support!
Now we’re even more motivated to create something beautiful together. We're already working hard on the first issue of RESERVAE which will be published in the beginning of October. During that time you will receive your copy. Can’t wait!!!
