More than just fields, we have lost a space for health, inclusion, and a future. Your contribution is not just help—it's an opportunity to rebuild lives. Join us.
What the storm took away… and what we can still save.
In 2023, we fulfilled a decades-long need: the construction of two indoor tennis courts.
It wasn't just infrastructure—it was a guarantee of continuity, stability, and a future.
Today, it is in ruins.
Storm Kristyn completely destroyed both of our covered courts.
The ground gave way. Structures collapsed. Years of effort vanished in hours.
Of the 7 tennis courts we had… only 3 remain available.
To endure, even after the impact.
Despite the scale of the damage, we refused to stop.
Through enormous personal effort, we achieved:
- Recover 3 outdoor courts
- Replacing streetlights and lighting with LED technology, embracing an energy transition.
- Clearing the entire area and removing debris.
- Court fence restoration
But the reality remains harsh:
- Two outside courts remain heavily damaged.
- The two indoor courts — essential to our activity — are completely lost.
Today, we are able to function... but it's far from what our community needs.
Much more than a club
The Leiria Racquet Sports & Social Club, founded in 1994, is today home to:
- 380 students
- 500 members
- 40 young athletes with competitive ambitions
And it's also an inclusion project - We develop regular programs with institutions that support people with disabilities, providing access to tennis as a tool for development, inclusion and well-being.
Here:
- Children grow up with values.
- Adults find balance
- People with disabilities find real opportunities.

The real impact: without covered courts, there is no continuity.
- We've lost our daily training capacity.
- We drastically reduced the number of active athletes.
- We limited access to the club, even on sunny days.
- Social tournaments no longer exist.
- Official competitions are suspended.
- Two international tournaments, each with more than 200 athletes, will not take place.
And when it rains… everything comes to a complete standstill.
The impact is profound.
The goal of this campaign is clear: to rebuild the covered courts. All funds raised will be exclusively dedicated to the reconstruction of the two covered courts.
The reconstruction will be designed to:
- Greater resistance to weathering
- Better adaptation to new climate realities.
- Continuation of the energy transition already underway.
- More sustainable and long-lasting infrastructure.
The storm swept away our covered fields.
But it didn't lead to our mission. We're counting on you!
