The Embra Pavilion in Marinha Grande was completely destroyed by Storm Kristin in January 2026. This pavilion was home to 87 years of history and the training center for over two hundred athletes.

Sporting Clube Marinhense , an institution with 87 years of history, saw its heart—the historic Pavilhão da Embra—completely destroyed by Storm Kristin in January 2026.

This incident left over two hundred young athletes without a place to train and compete, profoundly affecting the social and sporting fabric of Marinha Grande. To build a modern, safe pavilion capable of serving the community for decades to come, we launched the "Mission: Rebuild Sporting Clube Marinhense" , with a total reconstruction goal estimated at €4,000,000 .

About the author

Sporting Clube Marinhense, founded in 1939 in Marinha Grande, was born from the commitment and dedication of a group of local enthusiasts who sought to promote sports and healthy social interaction within the community.

Since its creation, the club has established itself as a multi-sport institution, keeping pace with the evolution of the Portuguese associative movement throughout the 20th century. Over the decades, it has diversified its activities, integrating different sports and consolidating an identity based on training, team spirit, and the development of young athletes.

Throughout its history, Sporting Clube Marinhense has regularly participated in regional and national competitions, promoting not only sporting development but also the personal and social growth of its athletes. In parallel, it has developed consistent training programs, providing several generations of young people with the opportunity to practice sport in a structured and inclusive environment.

Beyond the competitive aspect, the club plays a significant role in the local community, contributing to the promotion of healthy lifestyles and social integration. Its actions have been fundamental in creating opportunities for sports practice, reinforcing values such as discipline, respect, responsibility, and a spirit of mutual support.

Currently, Sporting Clube Marinhense continues to establish itself as a solid and dynamic institution, supported by the commitment of its leaders, coaches, athletes, and members, who contribute daily to the continuity and growth of its sporting and social project.
