On January 28th, the storm caused significant damage to the structure and stability of the vehicle park building at our headquarters of the Leiria Volunteer Fire Department in Monte Redondo.
Extremely strong winds caused the entrance gates to collapse, and the roof moved upwards due to high positive pressure, causing the front pillars to converge and break.
On the 29th we began repairs to minimize damage as well as cleaning the spaces.
Experts from ANEPC (National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority) and the Firefighters League estimated the damage to the fire station at 300,000 euros.
The Leiria Volunteer Firefighters are asking for your support so that we can have the essential repairs completed by June 30th of this year, to fully guarantee our rescue operations which, it should be noted, have never been interrupted, despite the precarious conditions in which we have been working.
