Project for the recovery of areas affected by Storm Kristin in the Senhora da Alegria Bio-Reserve.
Due to the passage of Storm Kristin through the Senhora da Alegria Bio-Reserve, the natural heritage of this area was severely affected. Some of the best-preserved areas of this biodiversity hotspot suffered damage ranging from fallen trees to the destruction of existing wildlife infrastructure and the degradation of the historic Senhora da Alegria pilgrimage trail. Some of the populations of species with unfavorable conservation status (cuckoo flower and southwestern bellflower), which Milvoz has been promoting over the years to ensure their future protection, are also at risk of disappearing under the cover of fallen trees, undergrowth, and opportunistic invasive species that are already colonizing the affected areas. It is imperative to act to recover and mitigate the negative impacts on this space, which is already a reference point for the natural and cultural heritage of the Coimbra Region.
