Over 1000 users per week, but not everyone gets to experience the club as they deserve. Let's make Juve Lis accessible: ramp, elevator and inclusion. Because sport is for everyone. We want to change, help us open paths without barriers.

Recently, our region was hit by extreme weather events that caused significant damage to our infrastructure. More than just visible damage, these storms destroyed access roads, isolating those who already faced difficulties: our athletes, users, students, and fans with reduced mobility .

We will not limit ourselves to replacing what existed before; our commitment is to eliminate all architectural barriers and ensure that 100% of the pavilion is accessible to 100% of the people . We want freedom of movement to be a reality in every stand, changing room, and common area.

Project Objectives:

  • Improve accessibility to sports facilities.
  • Eliminate existing architectural barriers.
  • To guarantee access for people with reduced mobility.
  • To promote inclusion and equality in access to sports practice.
  • Rehabilitating infrastructure affected by extreme weather events.

Expected Impact:

  • Significant increase in the accessibility of the facilities.
  • Effective inclusion of people with reduced mobility.
  • Improved conditions of use for athletes, users and visitors.
  • Strengthening the club's social role as an agent promoting equality.
  • Enhancing local sports infrastructure

About the author

Juventude Desportiva do LIS, founded in 1985, is a local club that is a benchmark in the promotion of handball and physical activity, currently boasting around 250 athletes in competition, distributed across various age groups, including teams competing in national divisions.

Beyond the competitive aspect, the club plays a significant role in the community, providing a gym with around 100 regular users and physiotherapy services, promoting the well-being and health of the population.

The Club also maintains active agreements with training institutions, namely the Leiria Professional School and the Guimarota Basic School, which regularly use our facilities as part of their training. Partnerships with the Pousos Social Centre and the Impulsar Association increase our social responsibility.

Our Sports Center, which is about 24 years old, has been a social space for inclusion, conviviality, and personal development. However, the recent damage caused by Storm Kristin and the floods has exacerbated existing accessibility limitations, compromising safe and dignified access for people with reduced mobility. In this context, the Club intends to reinforce its commitment to inclusion, eliminating physical barriers and ensuring that sport and its facilities are truly accessible to all.
