GDRP: Together, Let’s Rebuild What Belongs to Us All!!!

Storm Kristin destroyed our pavilion — but not our spirit. Together, we will rebuild this vital space for our community.

Where once there was sport, culture, and community, today there is a space left in ruins.

Storm Kristin caused the collapse of the pavilion of the Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo dos Parceiros, in Leiria — a place that, for decades, was a true meeting point for the local community.

More than just a club, we are a home for everyone.

Here, generations grow through sport, with activities such as futsal, basketball, and handball. Tradition lives on through our folk group. We promote well-being through walks, traditional games, and activities that bring older people together, helping to combat isolation.

Our pavilion has always also been a space dedicated to education, hosting activities from local schools — from preschool to primary education — as well as memorable moments like Carnival celebrations, traditional summer festivals, and other events that stay with us for a lifetime.

But from one day to the next, everything changed.

With the collapse of the pavilion, all these activities were disrupted, directly affecting young people, families, the elderly, and the entire local community.

Even so, we did not give up.

In the face of adversity, the club stepped up. We opened our changing rooms to the community, ensuring access to hot showers at a time when many homes were without electricity. We also made our headquarters available so families could preserve their food.

Because this club is made of people. And people always come first.

Now, it is time to look ahead.

We want to rebuild our pavilion and give this space back to the community. To achieve this, we need to:

• Rebuild the pavilion's structure;
• Restore essential infrastructure;
• Ensure safety and proper operating conditions.

We know the road ahead will not be easy — but we also know we are not alone.

We need the support of everyone who believes in the importance of sport, culture, and community.

Every contribution is more than a financial donation. It is a step toward bringing life back to this space. It is a gesture that will make a difference in the lives of many.

The Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo dos Parceiros is an association deeply rooted in the community of Parceiros, in Leiria.

Founded on February 26, 1976, in its original facilities located in the center of Parceiros, the club was created with a clear mission: to promote sport, culture, and social interaction, strengthening the bonds within the local community.

Over the years, Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo dos Parceiros has established itself as a pillar of the community, developing a wide range of sporting, cultural, and social activities. Sports such as football, futsal, basketball, and handball coexist with the folk group, preserving local traditions and identity.

The club also plays an active role in promoting well-being, organizing walks, traditional games, and initiatives aimed at the senior population, contributing to active aging and helping to combat social isolation.

On February 23, 2003, the sports pavilion was inaugurated — a key milestone in the club’s history, enabling the expansion of its activities and strengthening its support to the community. Since then, this space has become a true center of local life, hosting not only the club’s activities but also school initiatives, celebrations, and community events.

More than a sports association, Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo dos Parceiros is an institution dedicated to people — built through the efforts of generations and driven by a strong spirit of solidarity and commitment to the community.

Today, that same spirit continues to guide the club, keeping alive its mission to serve, unite, and strengthen the community of Parceiros.

Budget and due dates

The reconstruction of the pavilion of Grupo Desportivo e Recreativo dos Parceiros represents a total estimated investment of €1,100,000.

Thanks to the club’s efforts and the support already secured through other funding sources, we have raised €250,000.

We now need to raise €850,000 to make this project a reality.

This amount will be allocated to:

• Full reconstruction of the sports pavilion;
• Restoration of essential infrastructure (electricity, changing rooms, equipment);
• Ensuring safety and operational conditions;
• Creating a space prepared to serve the community in the future.

Every contribution brings us closer to this goal.

We know this is an ambitious challenge — but we believe in the strength of our community.

With everyone’s support, it will be possible to rebuild not just a building, but a space that is essential to the lives of so many people.
