During Storm Kristin, its effects caused the destruction of part of the school's roof, as well as a large part of the playground and sports field. The impact was significant, causing extensive damage to the interior of the building and compromising the safety of children and young people playing and enjoying the outdoor spaces, particularly for outdoor sports.

In terms of strategic priorities, it falls under the following categories:

a) Educational equipment;

b) Support structures for children;

The beneficiaries of this intervention are all the students of the Freixianda Basic School, and this intervention guarantees a return to normal functioning of the school.

About the author

The Municipality of Ourém is located in central Portugal, forming part of the district of Santarém and the CIM of Médio Tejo.

It extends over an area of 417 km2 , has a population of around 47,000 inhabitants, residing in two cities, 4 towns and numerous villages, distributed across 16 parishes.

The southern part of the municipality is a more urban area, with two medium-sized cities: Ourém and Fátima, where tourism and services predominate, closely associated with the context of Fátima. The northern part, predominantly rural, is home to small and medium-sized enterprises, especially those related to local products such as wood, metallurgical companies, and construction companies.
