During these storms, we’ve experienced difficulties reaching remote locations to support families and the elderly due to a lack of suitable vehicles. We want to change that!
The parish of Arruda dos Vinhos, known as the enchanted valley, has a very dense urban area, but also several villages and small towns in its hills, sometimes difficult to access via dirt roads. During this year's storms, we faced a particular challenge in reaching all points due to a lack of suitable vehicles on roads that became almost impassable or even destroyed.
We have not yet received any funding or mechanisms from the central government for the parishes that would allow us to cover the expenses we have incurred, which are in the thousands and were unforeseen, in addition to having the capacity to acquire resources and tools to be better prepared for local emergencies.
We don't want to let down our people, our community. With an already tight budget, now further strained by the damage that will need repairs, we are seeking community support to acquire an all-terrain vehicle so that we can continue to be on the front lines with our people, our parishioners.
