The artificial turf at Campo da Lagoa was damaged by Storm Kristin. Today, more than 200 athletes are unable to train and compete. We need support to replace the turf and return the field to the community.

Campo da Lagoa is much more than just a playing field.
It's where more than 200 athletes train, develop, and live the sport every day.

With the passage of Tropical Storm Kristin , the field suffered severe damage.
The artificial turf was torn, deformed, and lifted in several areas, making the space unusable and unsafe.

The collapse of structures and equipment further aggravated the damage, compromising the use of the field and forcing the interruption and adaptation of training sessions.

Without this space, the athletes' development is at risk and the club's activity is seriously affected.

Beyond the sporting impact, this situation affects the entire community. The club plays an active role in the training of young people, in promoting healthy lifestyles, and in creating a space for socializing and inclusion.

Replacing the turf is essential to restore the field, ensure safety, and restore conditions for everyone who depends on this space.

We need your help to rebuild the Lagoa field.

About the author

The Unidos Sports, Recreation and Cultural Group, founded in 1964, is an institution deeply rooted in the community, uniting two villages — Casal dos Claros and Coucinheira — around sports, culture and conviviality.

For several decades, the club has played a fundamental role in the sporting development of different generations, establishing itself as a space for personal and collective growth. Beyond the competitive aspect, it also promotes a recreational and cultural dimension that strengthens the bonds between athletes, families, and the entire community.

Since its foundation, GDRC Unidos has been based on a logic of active and voluntary participation, supported by the contribution of leaders, coaches, and collaborators who have ensured the continuity and evolution of the project. This associative model values principles such as discipline, respect, team spirit, and inclusion.

With strong ties to the territory, the club contributes to local social development and the creation of accessible opportunities for sports practice. Its longevity reflects its ability to adapt over time, always maintaining its commitment to the community and to sport as an instrument of social cohesion.

Budget and due dates

The intervention to replace the synthetic turf at the Lagoa field was structured to ensure efficient, safe and highly durable execution.

The budget includes the removal of the existing turf, the preparation and leveling of the base, and the installation of a new certified synthetic turf, suitable for sports practice and current requirements.

The estimated total cost of the intervention is approximately €165,000 (including VAT) , reflecting the size of the playing area and the quality of the materials and technical solutions planned.

Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026 , allowing the field to be prepared for the start of the new sports season.

The intervention will be carried out in phases:

1. Removal of existing lawn
Removal of the damaged flooring and cleaning of the base.

2. Land preparation and regularization
Base correction to ensure stability, drainage, and safety.

3. Installation of the new synthetic turf
Application of certified turf, with infill and markings suitable for different sports.

This investment is essential to restore safe and high-quality conditions to sports practice, ensuring that the field can once again be used by athletes and the community with complete confidence.

Every contribution brings us closer to returning this space to our athletes.
