Sense of Orientation ( theory of ambulatory route)

Sense of Orientation (theory of ambulatory route) is a small Comic Book, written in Portuguese and Italian.

The main character is a flaneur fox, who wanders and wonders aloud - "I think things we forget, want to be reinvented." With a Busy head, the little fox ends up dropping on the sidewalk pattern and enter the world of squares, their sense of direction and the crosses she will have with the other characters, determine her walking inside the vignettes. It is a self-edition of Ostraliana (name used by the author as a mark of all that is self-published), to be printed with risography techniques. 

The aim is to make a short-run edition - 200 copies - and sell it out. 

The book can be ordered and will be delivered home (4 euros plus delivery costs). It will be on sale in bookstores (4 euros) and fairs (3,50 euros). The profit margin will be small but it will do to invest in new editions of books. 

This book was entirely designed by Marta Sales, in the course of Comic classes at ar.co, with the precious disorientation illustrator and teacher Filipe Abranches.

About the author

Marta Sales (Architect / visual artist / illustrator) Born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1980 Freelancer.  

She Graduated in Architecture in FA.UTL - Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Lisbon (pre-Bologna 6 years degree). She attended the Drawing Master of FBA.UL - Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lisbon, and at the present moment studies, Illustration and Comics at Ar.Co (Center for Art and Visual Communication), Lisbon.

relevante workshops:  "Children's illustration" with Yara Kono, and "Storyboard Workshop", with Nuno Saraiva.

She worked as an Architect and Designer for about eight years, in many studios in Portugal and Spain (Barcelona). She worked in Visual Design area with the Performance Festival and land arts writing in Landscape '09. Produced graphic materials for Produções Cartuxo, Azul Petróleo (based in São Paulo, Brazil). Has participated in several architectural competitions, paticipated in the drawing exhibition "The Others" with Pedro Cabrita Reis produced by Pavilion 28, and the national illustrators exhibition, and magazine "Entre-Polos" promoted by the Magnetic Magazzine. Was monitoring of the Artistic Expression Workshops for children aged 3 to 9 years in Nursery Popular Ribeiro dos Santos and EVT teacher - Visual and Technological Education in elementary school of Elvas, Alentejo.

Currently works as designer and freelance illustrator (active participation in the production of fanzine contents such as Nicotiazine and she has illustrated "Kraus G. Confessa-se e Quem Vier Atrás que se Penitencie" written by Kraus G. edited by *a tua mãe". Gives drawing workshops for illustration, mainly to young people. She is finalizing a book for Verbo editions (illustrations, cover and layout design). As a visual artist, Marta has a special interest in the relationship between illustration and music. Concieves and performs live acts wich involve video-projections of live illustrations of their own songs.

Budget and due dates

DETAILED BUDGET PROJECT
The budget presented by the graphic (https://www.facebook.com/umtrescinconove) is 501 euros, for the production of 200 copies.

The 550 euros which intends to raised here in the PPL Crowdfundig, will be invested in prints and bindings (501euros) and in production/distribution (50euros).

The author (book designer, argumentist, and illustrator) will not charge, so that work will be counted as cost zero.

DEADLINE the idea is to send the book to the graphics in Early January 2016, and sell it throughout the year at an affordable price. having a margin of 1euro per book profit. The profit will be invested in future editions.
