This book relates to the specific investment in the healthcare sector, in particular on the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries. It aims to enlighten the reader about the best way to invest in this sector and industries, with a very clear attention to the practical part of the investment process. This is not just another "how-to-invest-in-the-stockmarkets" book, but a more specific investment book concerning industries that are influenced by very specific factors. No other book edited in Portugal does this.
 
I intend to entitle it "BioInvestor - how to invest and win in the biopharmaceutical industry." The interest of these industries lies in the fact that we are currently dealing with  the industries with the highest I&D levels , outperforming on a large scale what is invested, for example, in the tech sector. On the other hand, the potential gains for investors are remarkable, being also remarkable the degree of risk associated with the ignorance of how to invest in the sector. This book aims to mitigate this risk.
 
The book is aimed at the North American markets, because in Portugal  it becomes impossible to invest in this sector, as there are no companies listed on national stock exchange. However, at present time, investing in the American markets is as simple as investing in the portuguese ones, hence the need for this book.
The aim is to have the book published in Portugal. However, because the book is written for all investors, wherever they are, based on information and international examples, subsequent international editions are not to be excluded.

About the author

Pailo Ferreira, i have a degree in Economics and have been investing in the north-american stockmarkets over the last 15 years. I collaborated in the  "Executive Woman" magazine, as well as with several opinion articles in the portuguese website www.clubeinvest.com, of which i'm also a moderator.

At the present time I manage two public portfolios, at Clubeinvest and at Zercatto

Budget and due dates

O capital angariado será utilizado para financiar a edição do livro, em colaboração com uma editora. Regra geral, as editoras pretendem um co-financiamento das edições por parte dos autores, em especial quando se tratam de primeiras edições. Este valor corresponde a uma percentagem de livros pré-adquiridos, o que de acordo com alguns contactos já efectuados, deverá cifrar-se em torno do valor que aqui vos solicito - €2500. Quanto ao prazo, posso dizer que o livro está escrito, ficando o tempo dependente dos prazos da editora, no que a paginação e edição diz respeito. Pretendo chegar a um universo de cerca de 500 financiadores. O valor que peço corresponde a cerca de 250 cópias que algumas editoras me solicitaram, e que eu teria de comprar (com desconto de 50% face ao PVP). Considerando um PVP próximo dos 20€, considero o valor solicitado razoável, mesmo em comparação com outros projectos aqui financiados. A razão pela qual não apresentei um orçamento, é porque de facto os contactos que tenho tido como editoras são ainda informais. Não cheguei a acordo com nenhuma editora e o que me foi solicitado em termos de despesa, é precisamente o que peço. Trata-se do equivalente à compra de cerca de 250 livros a metade do PVP. Além disto, não existe qualquer outra estimativa. Também pelo mesmo motivo, não posso incluir um convite para uma sessão de apresentação sem saber se existirá uma sessão, ou em que moldes será feita a promoção do livro.
