Protecting the CCRT, protecting the community.

Since 1991, the CCRT has been a common home for the Travasso community. Today, it needs to replace its damaged roof to continue serving the community safely.

Since 1991, the CCRT has been a common home for the Travasso community. Today, it needs to replace its damaged roof to continue serving the community safely.

The Travasso Recreational and Cultural Center (Penacova) was founded on March 31, 1991. Since that day, it has been much more than an association: it has been a common home for the people of Travasso and the surrounding villages.

For over three decades, this space has been a part of community life. It was here that festivals, walks, lunches, gatherings, card tournaments, games of tag, meetings between neighbors, cultural activities, and many simple but important moments of sharing and unity were organized.

In a village where isolation is a palpable reality, the Travasso Recreational and Cultural Center has been a meeting place. A place where people come to talk, to participate, to help, to celebrate, and to keep the connection between generations alive.

Unfortunately, following Storm Kristin, the building's roof was severely damaged. Rain began to enter the Association's premises, endangering the space, the existing equipment, and the electrical network. Faced with the urgency, and as so often happens in our villages, the community came together: locals provided boards to temporarily cover the hole in the roof and prevent the water from continuing to enter.

But this solution is only temporary. It served to respond to the emergency, but it doesn't solve the problem.

The current roof contains asbestos, which requires a safe, responsible, and appropriate intervention. A minor repair is not sufficient. To protect people's health, ensure the building's safety, and prevent further damage, the entire roof needs to be replaced.

The Association received approximately €4,000 from insurance, but this amount is far from the actual cost of the work, estimated at around €30,000. Without support, CCRT cannot carry out this project alone.

This campaign is not just about replacing a roof.

It's about protecting a space that belongs to the community. It's about ensuring that Travasso continues to have a place to gather, socialize, organize activities, support the elderly, involve the young, and keep local traditions alive.

It's also about better preparing our village for the future. Travasso and the neighboring villages are well aware of the risk of wildfires. With climate change, these incidents may become more frequent and more severe. Therefore, we want this space to continue serving the population and, if necessary, also function as a community support point in emergency situations.

We want to transform a difficult situation into an opportunity to make our Center safer, more dignified, and better prepared to continue serving everyone.

We therefore ask for the support of everyone: residents, former residents, friends of Travasso, businesses, institutions, and all those who believe in the strength of local communities.

Every contribution counts. Every act of help brings us closer to a safe roof. Every gesture helps protect this common home.

Help us rebuild the Travasso Recreational and Cultural Center. This building has served the community since 1991. Now, it's the community's turn to help protect it.

About the author

The Travasso Recreational and Cultural Center was founded on March 31, 1991, by a community that wanted its own space: a place for meeting, socializing, culture, and participation.

Since then, the Association has been an open house to the people of Travasso and neighboring villages. Over the years, it has promoted simple but very important activities for local life: walks, community lunches, card tournaments, traditional games, cultural events, intergenerational encounters, and initiatives that bring people closer together.

In a village where isolation is felt, especially among the older population, the Center plays a role that goes far beyond organizing events. It is a space where people meet, talk, share stories, maintain traditions, and feel that they belong to a community.

CCRT is a non-profit association, driven by local people on a voluntary basis, with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the community. Its work has been built through the efforts of its leaders, members, residents, friends, and all those who, in one way or another, help to keep this common home alive.

The Association's goal is to continue serving Travasso, promoting cultural, recreational, social, and community activities open to the public and geared towards the common good. To achieve this, it is essential to ensure that the building where everything takes place is safe, dignified, and suitable.

This candidacy therefore represents much more than just a project. It represents the desire to protect an association with more than three decades of history, to preserve a space for community unity, and to ensure that the CCRT continues to fulfill its mission: to bring people together, combat isolation, keep local traditions alive, and support the population whenever necessary.

Budget and due dates

The currently estimated total cost for the complete replacement of the roof of the Travasso Recreational and Cultural Center is €29,360.10 , including VAT.

This amount results from the budget presented for the supply and installation of a new 5-wave sandwich panel roof, 40 mm thick, for an approximate area of 520 m². The intervention also includes the removal of the existing roof and ridge, its relocation to a landfill, masonry work, lifting equipment/scaffolding, necessary accessories, finishing touches, sides, ends, and repair of damaged profiles.

Given that the budget was issued in February 2026 and that the prices of construction materials, transport and energy are subject to frequent variations in an unstable international economic context, the Association aims to raise €30,000 . This amount corresponds to the cost of the intervention, plus a small safety margin to accommodate any price updates until the time of awarding and execution of the work.

The Association received approximately €4,000 through insurance , an amount that will be fully applied to this intervention. However, this sum falls far short of the actual cost of the work. The existing roof contains asbestos, so a simple, safe, and lasting one-off repair is not possible. The only suitable solution is to replace the entire roof.

If, at the time of awarding the contract, the final cost remains below the amount raised, any remaining funds will be applied exclusively to expenses directly related to the execution of the intervention and the restoration of the safety and operational conditions of the space, namely minor repairs associated with the roof, protection of the electrical installation, cleaning, site safety, or other necessary complementary works.

It is estimated that the intervention can be carried out within a total period of 6 to 8 weeks after obtaining the necessary funding , depending on weather conditions, the availability of materials and the schedule of the company responsible for the work.

With this intervention, CCRT aims to eliminate the risk associated with the damaged asbestos roof, prevent water from entering the building, protect the electrical network and existing equipment, and return to the community a safe, dignified space prepared to continue hosting cultural, recreational, social and community activities.
