Procuro cúmplices para desenvolver uma NOVELA GRÁFICA

Looking for co-conspirators to rewrite the ultimate story of the Three Wise Men and making it into a Graphic Novel, which does them justice.

What if the story we were told about the three wise men didn't happen like the Bible tells us? Shall we say that the Three Wise Men are really necessary to validate the birth of baby Jesus. That may be. And yet they are completely depleted of personality. Maybe because they are just symbols, rather than characters, in their own right. Their role is merely functional, just like the ox, the cow and the donkey, which ensure the comfort of the newborn.

But having highlighted and clarified the importance of the Three Wise Men in the Christian narrative, do they have the right to their own story? And just as Jesus' life has been the subject of various readings, interpretations and even adulterations, do we have the right to create an alternative narrative for this trio?

Well, if we were religious scholars, of course not. But as creators, we accept this burden upon our shoulders.

So let's make them the main characters of their own lives and choices. And once we've opened Pandora's box, let's see where it takes us.

So this is what I´m proposing to do, with your help. A short GRAPHIC NOVEL, with 23 to 25 pages in black and white, with just three characters, full of traits, idiosyncrasies and human emotions, that will lead to an unexpected finale.

I know I could complete this endeavor by myself. After all, I have already drawn a few pages. But this adventure doesn't have to be a solitary walk in the desert (like the protagonists of our story). And as I know that many of you will not be satisfied with the official version either, I invite you to jump on board this adventure, so that in a collective effort, we  bring this idea to life and become part of a Brotherhood that ultimately, will substantially change the traditional Nativity scene.

This edition will be bilingual.

My name is Carlos. No need for the last name, Fernandes. That would be too formal.

I have been a graphic artist for many years and have had the privilege of diversifying my talents across several areas, namely animation, illustration, visual arts and cinema, among others. And among that “among others” is my passion for comics, or more specifically in this case, for short graphic novels.

I confess that comics is an old passion (perhaps the oldest), but it was stifled and restrained for decades by the emergence of other interests. But just as life manifests itself even in the most adverse conditions, ideas sooner or later emerge and claim their right to life. And that's what brings me here.

About my work, it aims to deconstruct the world as I know it and reinvent it on foundations that make sense to me. I shape a new world according to my references, values ​​and concepts. I deliberately destroy, alter, mix, shuffle and deal, knowing that everything is interconnected and that by altering the smallest particle, I alter the Universe. And because all means are valid when it comes to creating, all sources of inspiration are cherished. Among those sources of inspiration are Classical and Christian mythologies, children's tales, folk tales and of course the Classics, ranging from the Odyssey to the tales of Hans Christian Andersen, including the tales of the Brothers Grimm, among others.

And as an iconoclast, I don't hesitate to distort and recreate what suits me. Because I see it as a form of respect.
