Sebê Nón - "our knowledge" - seeks to prevent school dropout among São Tomé e Príncipe female population and raise awareness of gender equality importance through support for school activities and extracurricular activities for female empowerment.
In terms of education, as the level of education increases it can be seen that gender differences widen. This inequality - where women are most disadvantaged - is then visible in the professional qualification for better jobs, economic independence and participation in public life.
Sebê Nón's goals are to prevent the school dropout of the female population and to raise awareness about gender equality by supporting the study and the realization of extracurricular activities whose themes and methodologies contribute to female empowerment.
The project will be implemented on the island of São Tomé for 12 months, in line with the national school year, in particular with girls attending the 7th, 8th and 9th grades at Guadalupe Secondary School in order to cover the populations of the communities of Guadalupe and Agostinho Neto.

WACT - We Are Changing Together, a non-governmental organization working for development through education (NGDO), has a mission to change the world through people and therefore believes in the potential of each to be a change agent in their daily contexts and in the world. Framed in the area of Education for Development, WACT enables future Changemakers, equipping them with technical skills in the areas of entrepreneurship and social intervention.
Sebê Nón is one of the projects supported by WACT Incubation, which supports the changemakers through the transmission of know-how for the planning, implementation and management of a sustainable social project and with constant support at the level of networking and legal support.
Budget and due dates
Sebê Nón will last for 12 months and to make this project possible it is necessary to raise the aforementioned amount in order to cover the following costs:
- Support in the stay of the author of the project - 1800€;
- Project materials (e.g. printouts, materials for practical activities and events) - 500€;
- Internal travel (trips to meetings with partners) - 550€;
- Telecommunications - €325;
- Commissions of the PPL + VAT - €325.
