If you could set out to discover yourself? Self-help tool: The main objective is to allow teenagers to know themselves better and have greater control over their emotions and feelings.

A tool that can help:

Let's think like this:

Every day we are in constant transformation and constant changes are occurring, however the key is to understand the process, to understand essentially the effect that this process has on us, because when we discover the path, it is also easier to get where we want to go. So if we are more aware of how we feel, what we think, what we want not to think about, what we take refuge in, what we really don't know or what we think we know but that somehow has an impact on us, we can improve this journey and we can make it more enjoyable and more incredible .

This book was thought about for a long time, on a kind of journey of my own self-knowledge and for me it didn't make sense not to use this to try to help other people or transmit this vision to other people, who wish to read it.

This book begins with a mission and even a travel ticket. “ This will be your MISSION” and requires a commitment from the person who is reading it. In my view, it is not just a book, but rather, “ Your” book , your story and your search for yourself.

But why teenagers?

Why can it make a difference in these people's lives?

“Half of all mental health conditions begin by age 14, but most cases go undetected and untreated”

We all have teenagers in our lives and we all live with teenagers every day, but the truth is that all of us, as people, were also teenagers and we know very well that this is one of the most crucial phases of our lives and with it comes a set of problems that often seem to have no solution.

But what if teenagers could have more control over this? What if they could acquire more tools to deal with this phase, which is both important and complicated. Would it be possible to prevent some of the events we see today? And that's what I thought:

Why not provide tools to help teenagers deal with this turbulent and personality-shaping period? Why not let yourself, the teenager who is reading this, be the one who can improve your path and thus also your emotions and the way you manage them.

“Promoting mental health and preventing disorders are key to helping teens thrive”

Since this is the phase in which personality is structured and everything is experienced so intensely, it becomes important for teenagers to better understand their emotions but, above all, to know how to identify them and thus be able to regulate them, for example, through breathing exercises or evaluating thoughts.

“Among the most important tools are promotion and prevention, with self-help methods being one of the greatest tools in this regard”

That said, my goal with this book is to promote two fundamental processes for all of us: self-knowledge and emotional intelligence, that is, to lead people to discover their qualities, defects, fears, insecurities and strengths, with a view to better decision-making and objective evaluation of their own feelings and emotions.

It will allow us to develop self-love and help improve our social skills, in order to understand not only what we feel but also what others feel, their way of thinking and their own behavior (respect for others and for themselves), in order to avoid conflicts and understand their role in the environment in which they find themselves, as well as developing their strengths (skills and personality traits), in order to increase self-confidence, reducing fears and insecurities, as well as increasing self-esteem and motivation: a greater sense of identity and better decision-making, such as choosing company and giving in to social pressures to be accepted in society, leading to greater self-control and greater tolerance to frustration.

“Educating adolescents with emotional intelligence is essential to helping them become adults with adequate mental health”

About the author

So who am I?

Well, basically I am everything I can be, the best I can be. But one thing is for sure: I feel like I am changing and evolving. I think that's how it works.

These pictures say it all:

This story is not just about others: it is also mine. And we have all gone through phases: some good and some not so good, through so many changes, so many adversities and so many whys. But the truth is that we are still standing and I want to tell you that I am: someone who kept standing and fighting, even in the face of everything that I could be going through/feeling in each of those photos and in each of those moments.

And now:

My name is Patrícia and I am a Psychologist. I have worked in various contexts, including adults, the elderly and even children and adolescents, which has been my biggest challenge so far.

Working with children is something that I really enjoy because it is so easy to measure how much they evolve over time and it is so easy to help them with simple things that, until now, were not visible to them or, simply, they did not realize.

As for teenagers, I consider that this is a job that gives me the most pleasure and gratification, not only because today's teenagers will be tomorrow's adults but because it is so rewarding to realize how sometimes saying a certain thing, in a different way, can have such a big impact on the way that teenager perceives the situation or the way they think.

But it is not always easy and above all, the path is not straight and there are a series of difficulties that are extremely important to be resolved well when we talk about teenagers and when we are dealing with this age group.

For this reason and for this reason, I feel that this book will be an asset, because it will allow you to follow this path with some clues about what needs to be done, what needs to be changed or considered and how it is important to know yourself and question what you feel, why you feel it, where it comes from.

I am currently working in a clinic, and as I said before, I work with children and teenagers, but I think it is possible to combine writing, which is something that has always fascinated me, with Psychology and with supporting others. I think it is the best of both worlds.
