This campaign is an opportunity to be part of this initiative and support new national artists.
Festival Súbito is a cultural initiative that arises from the desire to give structure and voice to new artists. It seeks to enhance collective reflection, multidisciplinary experiences and the programming of young people willing to create and share. The festival takes place in the historic area of Vila Nova de Gaia, between the institutional spaces that occupy the old cellars and the open sky of the Pier. The Festival Súbito, in addition to projecting young artists, is accompanied by a community-in-residence program, remembering that culture is an essential pillar for the quality of life in society.
Created by young people for young people, it wants the value of culture to be highlighted and reach everyone equally, making it a free festival that calls for the free support of the community.
The Festival Súbito program will include performances, exhibitions, debate sessions, conversations and video art sessions. Each edition of the festival will revolve around an issue that will shape the curatorship of the year. The question of this zero edition of the festival is "How can we rethink the common?" . With it, we intend to trigger reflections on the art-community relationship on several fronts, from the accessibility of art to the community to the way in which artistic practice itself changes depending on whether it takes place in the institutional or public space.
This crowdfunding arises from the urgency of creating a structure that is more aware of the value of culture, appealing to civil society to raise initiatives that welcome new artists. The value of crowdfunding is intended to bring artists a greater economic structure , which is the main focus of this campaign.

About the author
The artistic direction of the Festival Súbito is composed of two young artists , Beatriz Sarmento and Joana Couto. They met in elementary school and shared many years of art education together. Following different areas, they come together again to combine the visual arts with the performing arts in a festival. With informal conversations during the first confinement, they begin by discussing the pillars of a cultural structure for young artists due to the lack of a network when starting their professions. Hence the Festival Súbito in a close relationship between art and community.
