“Reinventing Time” is an artist book (book + puzzle) that reflects on the playful dimension of architecture, imagination, and the construction of worlds.

“Reinventing Time” is a poetic and critical reflection on the playful dimension of architecture, taking as its starting point the Portugal dos Pequenitos Expansion Project, currently underway.

Conceived as a two-volume book-object (book + puzzle) , the project revisits the relationship between imagination and places of play and games, based on a hypothesis: children's favorite toy is time.

Mockup dos dois volumes que constituem o livro-objeto.

The first volume, the book itself, brings together previously unpublished interviews with Álvaro Siza Vieira , Eduardo Souto de Moura , Ellen van Loon , Nuno Rosado , Luís Pedro Silva , João Pedro Falcão de Campos , José António Bandeirinha , Frederico Vital Soares and Eduardo Costa Pinto , in dialogue with essays by Maria Filomena Molder , Álvaro Domingues , Eurico Carrapatoso , João Pedro Fernandes , Gonçalo M. Tavares , Alexandra Prado Coelho and João Nunes .
With a preface by Patrícia Viegas de Nascimento and Angela Maurice and an afterword by Elvira Leite , this book is accompanied by an original photographic series by Valter Vinagre , which explores the unique imagery of Portugal dos Pequenitos (Portugal in Miniature).

The second volume is presented as an illustrated puzzle by Ana Aragão, conceived as a physical and playful extension of the book — an invitation to assembly, experimentation, and manual thinking as a form of knowledge.

Between research and play, between thought and practice, "Reinventing Time" proposes a sensitive and critical journey into the role of architecture in "building worlds."

The Casa de Albarraque estate, covering approximately two hectares, represents the largest part of the territory that was the second anarchist commune in Portugal, Clarão, founded in 1920 by the unique figure of António Gonçalves Correia (1886-1967). In 1929, with the extinction of the commune, the property was acquired by Alexandre Ferreira (1877-1950), a republican philanthropist, founder of the Inválidos do Comercio (Invalids of Commerce), and father of the poet José Gomes Ferreira (1900-1985). At the end of the 1950s, the poet decided to build a summer residence on his small farm, as he himself called the property, entrusting the architectural project to his son Raúl Hestnes Ferreira (1931-2018), with construction being completed in 1960.
