Latcho Drom is a silkscreen artist Rui A. Pereira, with a plasticity of vibrant colors and textures inspired by the long journey that Roma began centuries ago in India.

Welcome to the support of this edition of a silkscreen rich in colours and textures, a work symbolizing the long journey that Romani began centuries ago from India to all over the world. The human demand inspired the author Rui A. Pereira to create a silkscreen that has a unique limited edition of 100 copies, numbered and signed by the artist, that the supporters of this project can get for a price 50% off the sale price to the public.

The silkscreen was specially created to celebrate the presentation of the international exhibition VIDAS CIGANAS - ROMANI LIVES Lungo Drom in Lisbon, show at the Museu da Cidade, and the realization of the flamenco show "Pessoa e Camarón", on the 28th October at the Teatro Tivoli.

Rui A. Pereira (Luanda, 1966) is an artist with work in various fields, which begins to be valued and have the deserved public recognition. In June have had a retrospective exhibition of his graphic work shown in Casa da Imprensa and is ongoing a project of sculptural sets in concrete and metal to be shown in several public places in Lisbon.

The silkscreen LATCHO DROM (in Romanó, international language of Roma, means Good Journey), in the format 50 x 70 cm, is printed in 22 colours on Modigliani paper 320 g in the reputed workshop of  Artistic Silkscreen António Moreira, which is a added reason for the value of the work.

This is an expensive production that the current economic and financial constrain advice to be launched in pre-sale to make cover part of the edition costs. That is what the promoter, an organization dedicated to cultural production as a form of social intervention, proposes to supporters: acquire a work of great quality for a price that is 50% off the public selling price.

What also is proposed to the supporters of this project is to be the firsts (the edition of 100 copies is numbered and signed by the author) to enjoy this beautiful allegorical work about the social and spiritual paths traversed by a people who today constitute the largest European  ethnic minority.

To the supporters of this project that do not want to have a copy of the silkscreen LATCHO DROM we propose forms of support that have as a reward, besides the public acknowledgment the offer of the exhibition catalogue VIDAS CIGANAS with 112 pages and 4 colour printing, and invitations for the flamenco show "Pessoa e  Camarón", held on October 28th at Teatro Tivoli. But these rewards can be cumulated with the acquisition of LATCHO DROM and also with the acquisition of another author's work. Therefore, we propose six scales of joining the project with a wide range of rewards options.

About the author

Palco de Sombras has as mission to contribute to the personal empowerment and active citizenship of people of all ages and conditions, by promoting creative learning that enhance knowledge. No form of expression or learning is outside its activity, including the production and dissemination of artistic events and works of art.

Values as social cohesion, respect by human rights, intercultural dialogue, equality between citizens and full democracy are key concepts underlying its activities.

Palco de Sombras is guided by strict criteria of social responsibility, with the objectives of creating and disseminating products and services that meet the specific needs of human development and social and cultural intervention.

Palco de Sombras legally is a micro enterprise, located in Lisbon and founded in March 2009.

Palco de Sombrasproduced the exhibition of the graphic work of Rui A. Pereira in Casa da Imprensa June 2013, and curated two parallel conferences on the artistic condition. Also edited, in 2013, another silkscreen of the author, titled “LisboaAzul(T)ejo”.

Budget and due dates

A edição da serigrafia LATCHO DROM tem um custo de produção de 3.400 euros (sem IVA e sem custos de estrutura) tendo-se como objectivo fazer uma pré-venda no valor de 50% deste custo (1.700 euros), o que viabilizará a edição. Os restantes 50% e outros custos serão cobertos pela venda futura dos restantes exemplares. Simultaneamente, a pré-venda estimulará as vendas/compras futuras ao colocar no circuito público a serigrafia e potenciará o seu valor comercial. A fase de provas da serigrafia está concluída. A impressão dos 100 exemplares estará concluída a 11 de Outubro.
