We are a group of final year students at the Academia Contemporânea do Espectáculo, in Oporto, from the Courses of Interpretation, Light, Sound and Stage Effects, Stage Design, Costumes and Props. As a final course project we need to elaborate a PAP (Professional Aptitude Project), which consists in directing a theatrical performance.
Our group chose to follow a process independently from the school, given that all elements necessary to directing a show (production, staging and performance) are of our own responsibility. For this reason, we need to raise funds to make it happen.

The texts we are going to work-on are ‘O Pedido de Casamento’; ‘O Urso’; ‘Malefícios do Tabaco’; 'Aniversário no Banco; ‘O Canto do Cisne’; ‘Trágico à força’, all plays integrating the piece 'Seis peças em um ato', from Tchekhov. The choice of this piece is based on the relevance of its author, who is a world-wide reference in literature, but also because it speaks of the social condition of the human being and of the conflict between man and woman in the light of the values of that time, which are still valid in the present times. We aim to contradict the marks of that time that emerge from the text, in order to bring the issues raised into a timeless plan, conferring a less conventional approach to the interpretation of Tchekhov.

Performance dates – July 19th to 27th (except July 21st). Every day at 21:30 hrs.
