Contemporary dance lives an intense debate within the discussion of ideas and concepts related to the movement itself, the body and space. The Reflection Platform aims to encourage ideas and experiences exchange around creation in contemporary dance, bringing also to the debate relations established with the community, creative areas and the appropriation of contemporary life as inspiration for artistic creation. The Reflection Platform is integrated on "E-Motional: rethinking dance" project, designed for artists and curators, which aims to stimulate exchange in research and artistic collaboration, co-production and itinerancies well as developing public at European level. As the title shows, the guiding idea of the program is rethinking of artistic practices and formats and finding the right language in the development of new artistic contents in the field of contemporary dance. The Reflection Platform involves a series of creative and brainstorming residencies happening between Romania, Portugal and Latvia. The Platform gathers a mixed group of dance professionals - artists, producers, curators and researchers, with 4-5 participants from each country. 

The first meeting of the Reflection Platform took place in Porto at the AXA Building, 25th June to 2nd July 2014. The second meeting will take place 8-12 October in Bucharest, Romania.

About the author

Fábrica de Movimentos is a cultural non-profit association based in Porto, which designs and develops projects in the performing arts area aiming the study movement, body and space, and its interaction with contemporary artistic languages. Fábrica de Movimentos was born in 1998; at 1999 presents a dance festival that was to become the Fabrica Festival. FESTIVAL da FÁBRICA (1999/2011) has positioned itself as an event that sought to support and showcase the work of new artists, emerging artists and artists already with a recognized corpus of work. 

In 2001, we launched FRAME - International Festival of Video Dance. An event to publicize the intersection of dance and video. By 2008, the FRAME besides presenting numerous artists and their work, also encouraged the national creation through co-productions and presentation of works and artists in other festivals. In 2009, the FRAME became broader: presenting works from the interaction between the movement and the media. Became FRAME research. Presently, among the projects of Fabrica Movimentos, highlight to the collaboration with Produtora de Risco in promoting MAP / P - Process Show / PT. This project is devoted to experimentation and exchange of views, especially among the artists themselves and the public in order to collect observations and new ideas, which somehow, would assist the continuing research of creation. In 2012 had its 1st edition - 25.06 to 06.07.2012 - São Bento da Vitória Monastery, with the participation of the artists Vera Mota / Ghuna X (PT), Ana Renata Polónia (PT), João Costa (PT), Antonio Onio (PT), Elizabete Magalhães (PT), Marília Coelho (BR), Flávio Rodrigues (PT) and Nadja Parsinen (FIN). In 2013, in its 2nd edition - 09 to 13.07.2013-, also in São Bento da Vitória Monastery; with the participation of Leonardo Daniele (IT), Any Collective (Ibon Salvador (ES) and Luciana Chieragati (BR), Seyoung Jeong (KOR), Tania Dinis (PT), Ana Trincão (PT), Rebecca Camilleri (MT) / Nicola Rayworth (UK), Adrian Garcia de los Ojos (ES), Sara Wellenkamp (PT), Carles Casalachs (ES), Artur José dos Campos (BR) / Sara Montalban (PT). in 2014, the 3rd edition of the MAP / P presents Fernando Belfiori (NL), Mirko Guido (IT / SW), Ana Renata Polónia (PT), Guida Maurício (PT), Mariela Nestora (GR), Dilmana Yordanova (RO) and Daniel Pinheiro (PT).

 

Budget and due dates

We need your support to fund the travel of our participants, as well as their perdiems during the staythe in the second meeting of Reflection Platform in Bucharest, . So, we are talking about 4 round trips Porto - Bucharest and perdiems for a 10 day stay (anticipate 10 € per day for transportation expenses and other needs). This effort allows us to continue the work in development of contemporary dance at national and European level. Travel Porto - Bucharest - 300€ 4 PAX 1.200€ Perdiem 10 days 4 PAX € - 100€ 4 PAX 400€ Total 1.600€ The depart will happen by October 7th, so we have nearly 1 month to achieve this goal.
