As practitioners of a sport still relatively unknown to the Portuguese, the Lumberjacks face innumerable problems to get support . Even more in this time of crisis .
Born in an urban park in Pacos de Ferreira, where we used a small field full of holes to practice. Fortunately, after a while we got a partnership with Parecedes City Hall that gave us a few hours in a city synthetic field in order to practice and play in the American Football Portuguese League . However, everything else has to be paid by us. And when we say "we" , "we" mean directors, coaches and players who pay all from their own pocket .
It is the will of the players who pay for ALL that makes possible this team play! They pay everything since personal equipment (200€ to 400€ per athlete); insurance and membership in the League (50€), travels, etc. Besides that, we still have to pay referees, team registration in the league, jerseys, pants, etc.
Although we achieved some partnerships that ensured discount in various services, we lack sponsors so we can invest in more and better training equipment . All the training material we possess were offers of athletes or team friends, since we don't have sponsors who invest money in the team. Much of the material are our inventions, we try to simulate the genuine articles we should be using .
So what we want is that you can help us raise money to invest in training material and assist our athletes to practice the sport in a more accessible way in, since most of our players are students and unemployed.
