The Coro Misto da Universidade de Coimbra (CMUC) next year it is proposed to make an exchange with the Coro del Collegio Cairoli (CCC), Pavia, Italy, giving aid to the Portuguese cultural GDP.
CMUC's history is well filled with cultural and artistic exchanges with choirs from many parts of the globe. In fact, from festival performances to the organization of the International University Choirs Meeting (EICU®), we've been showing true efforts in the building of academic and cultural bonds and, of course, in developing personal skills and interaction with choir members from all around the World. This said, we want to keep pursuing these goals by doing another exchange. This time with Coro del Collegio Cairoli (Pavia, Italy).
This exchange is composed of two stages. First we'll receive Coro del Collegio Cairoli in Coimbra an then Coro Misto da Universidade de Coimbra will go to Pavia.
On the first stage of our project it's intended that the choirs take on a direct personal contact in the “City of Doctors”, in a way that makes a relevant cultural interaction possible. We would like our Italian Singer friends to know more about the city, its traditions and activities and, on the other hand, we would like to offer our community the possibility to enjoy a joint performance of CCC and CMUC. On the first part, each choir will present a relevant repertoire, focused on its own identity. Then the performance will go on with some pieces interpreted by both choirs. This will allow a true exchange of experience and knowledge and an asset to the public that will experience different interpretations and musical styles.
On the second Stage of this exchange CMUC will go to Pavia. With this trip we want to take portuguese music beyond borders. There, like in Coimbra, we'll have a joint presentation in which will be able to give the Italian public the same experience we will give to portuguese community in Coimbra.
Since we're talking about a bilateral exchange, we'd like to make the trip to Pavia an opportunity to strength the bonds between choirs, what will make this exchange a rich cultural but also personal and civic experience to everyone, encouraging tolerance and friendship between two groups with different roots and livings.
