We are the pioneers in Oporto in adopting the concept and we will do everything to make the guests feel good and at ease.

I was introduced to the the “Supper-Club” concept some two years ago. Since then, I have been following the activity of similar projects that have arisen in Portugal (some 6-7 in the Lisbon area) and at the same time developing my knowledge of what exists outside this country. 

I embraced the idea as soon as I became familiar with the concept, in it I saw an opportunity to share my love for cooking, as well as the chance to meet new people and cultures.

There are many distinct variants within this concept, with names such as “Paladar”, “Restaurante à Porta Fechada”, “Guestaurant”, “Restaurante Underground”, “Anti-Restaurant” or “Pop Up Dinner”. In our case, the meals will be cooked by us and served in our own home. 

"Supper-Club" is an international concept that offers the possibility to experience a meal in a family setting, inside a private home.

It also presents the chance for an 'amateur chef' to share his work, and passion for cooking, with the 'new' friends he welcomes into the cozy atmosphere of his own home.

This is definitely an opportunity to relax in a friendly environment, while enjoying a home cooked meal - and all this for a very reasonable price.

We will leave nothing to chance. Our goal is to fulfill every expectation. We are driven by our commitment to provide our guests with an all round memorable experience.

We have good reasons to believe that satisfaction is guaranteed.

You will feel the passion for cooking, but there can be more than the simple pleasure of a meal: there is also the opportunity for pleasant conversation, as spontaneous as would occur in a gathering of friends - quite different from the commercial and detached nature of a common restaurant.

We offer contemporary style cooking, mainly inspired by the mediterranean roots of portuguese gastronomy, and using only the finest natural produce.

All this while always keeping an open mind regarding fusion cuisine.

Our base menu will consist of two entrées, two main dishes, dessert, and the recommended beverages to complete it. This base menu can be fine-tuned to the exact specifications of our guests.

Reservations have to be made in advance, and upon the agreement that there will be adequate compensation for our efforts.

We are pioneers in establishing this concept in Porto, and we will do our utmost to make our guests feel right at home.

Whenever required, we will provide our guests with information regarding both the city of Porto and the Northern region. We will also be open to organizing guided tours of Porto, Gaia (Port Wine Cellars) and the Douro wine region.

About the author

In my 50’s, I was born and raised in Porto, and started cooking 15 years ago.

I take great pleasure and relaxation from this activity, and I feel I have expanded on my cooking skill through the years.

Behind me are 3 years as a journalist, 10 years in the textile industry, and more than 20 in the organization of shows and events.

Also in her 50’s, but born in London and raised in Lisbon, Margarida has always been involved in activities requiring acute skills in sociability and communication.

Between Margarida’s sociability and my passion for cooking and gastronomy, we decided to find a way to share this with others, without the “hassle” of opening a restaurant.

The solution was the “Supper-Club” concept. With that in mind we went ahead and refurbished our home, in a building located in the center of Porto, with the look and feel of the 30’s. This is of significant importance since it represents a particular school of architecture of the period, a historic example of one of the city’s first concrete buildings.

Budget and due dates

A recuperação foi iniciada no final de Setembro, com incidência em todo o chão (soalho afagado e envernizado), hall de entrada (pintura paredes e tecto), corredor da área social (pintura paredes e rebaixar tecto), sala (depois de aumentada com derrube de uma parede para juntar a sala a um quarto) pintura de tecto paredes e janelas, casa de banho social - chão, paredes, tecto e mobiliário, e na cozinha (aumentada com derrube de uma parede) - chão paredes tecto e mobiliário, incluindo intervenções na circulação de água e na alimentação e distribuição eléctrica em toda a área social da casa. Temos até aqui um investimento realizado de 12.835,00 € O nosso budget inicial era de 10.000 € mas com o evoluir das obras fomos constatando outras necessidades e acabámos por ultrapassá-lo e fomos até ao nosso limite. Para melhorar o espaço de forma a estar preparado para a confecção das refeições faltam-nos 2.250,00 € que procuramos realizar por forma a ter o projecto a funcionar no início de Dezembro.
