Pedro Gomes and André Redondo - Participation on the Beira Baixa Trophy Challenge 2017

Motor sport has strong roots in Portugal, being home to some important competitions of the world's motor racing calendar. Portuguese people cherish motor sport.

Pedro Gomes, age 27, a young Lisbonian who has strong roots on Beira Baixa, more precisely in Castelo Novo (Castelo Branco district), soon began to show his skills on motor racing, a sport with some family traditions. He started his Karting training for the FPAK in 2002 and 2003, finishing both years 4^th place in the national ranking. 

In 2004, at age 15, he starts his motor racing career, finishing 4^th place in the Datsun Trophy and 36^th Overall. Then, he shows a clear evolution considering his 1^st place on the slalom, his 9^th on the Hillclimb of Castelo Novo (2010) and in 2011 by finishing 3^rd in his class and 6^th Overall on the Hillclimb of Alcongosta. This year he’s great success too by the time he finishes 4^th place in his class and the 5th Overall on the Cidade da Covilhã Circuit as well as on the Hillclimb Serra do Alardo, where he achieves 1^st place in both the Hillclimb and the Slalom.

In 2012 he participates in the Cargaleiro Super Special, where he finishes 2^nd in his class and 9^th Overall, 1st in his class and 2^nd Overall (Cidade da Covilhã II Circuit), winning two 2^nd places in his class and Overall on the Beira Tejo Circuit (Abrantes) and a 4^th place in his class and 7^th Overal on the 1^st Serra da Gardunha Classic and 2^nd place on the Trophy. In 2013 he takes 2^nd place Overall on the Circuit Bombarral AJA and in 2015 he is 1^st in his class, 2^nd from the classics and 3^rd Overall in the Gardunha Rally.

In 2016, he competes on the Beira Baixa Trophy Challenge finishing: 1^st in his class, 1^st  from the classics and 8^th Overall on the Gardunha Rally; 1^st in his class, 1^st from the classics and 13^th Overall on the Rally of Paúl; 1^st in his class, 2^nd from the classics and 11^th Overall on the Belmonte Rally and 1^st place in his class, 1^st place from the classics and 12^th Overall in the Vila Velha de Rodão Rally, becoming Champion of the seventies under 1300cc class, Classics Champion and 6^th Overall.

All these competitions were disputed in Datsun 1200.

Pedro Gomes' track record reflect his inborn talent and the only thing that’s stopping him from going further is the difficulty of improving his car and his team. This year he’ll try for a qualitative leap and for that he needs help in order to improve his car performance, to have better tires, material supplies, mechanical and logistics team.

What we've come to ask you is just a cut of all the costs associated to a Trophy like the Beira Baixa Challenge, and that is small cut that will allow him to buy more tires, to bear the costs of the competitions' entry fee and some of his mechanical expenses. Everything else is supported by the team. They’re both young workers, so the dream isn't very easy to pursue...

With your help, this team Pedro Gomes/ André Redondo can go further and achieve another level in the motor racing.

My name is Isabel Passos Sousa, I live in Loures and I also love cars, speed and, in some other times, I came to be a rally navigator. I’m the responsible and the face of the crowdfunding project of Pedro Gomes and André Redondo and I do it because, not only I believe in this team’s value, but also in the potential that exists in crowdfunding and in the possibility that we can all contribute with something in order to make someone’s dream come true. Together we’re really MUCH stronger and we can make a difference, build foundations to new conquests and make dreams come true that make us happier and fulfilled.

Pedro is one of my three children. However, he's mostly a young automotive talent that we can all lend a hand to. I would not support him like this unless his list of achievements did not corroborate his dedication, commitment and inner value. I support him so that he is not just a young boy that dreamed of becoming a pilot and having his potential recognized, but that never got his chance. Your help will make a difference in order for him to become more competitive, to be more equitable by showing all its value, along with André, his navigator. And who knows, maybe they can navigate some other seas?

The management of the campaign, its diffusion, the contact with the supporters and the delivery of rewards will be my responsibility because, besides the enthusiasm and trust regarding the project, I also have more time available to spend with. There are much more enthusiastic people that support me in this cause.

Budget and due dates

The amount requested in the campaign is only part of the total costs of the sporting season that the team proposes to do and does not contemplate the upgrade made at his own expense on the Datsun 1200 with which he competes.

This campaign will last 60 days.

Budget for the 2017 Sports Season Participation in the 2nd edition of the Trophy Beira Baixa Challenge (4 to 5 Rally) and Rampa do Canhoso 2017

Costs: Subscriptions -120€ X 6 = 720€

Gasoline, Transportation and tolls - 60€ X 6 = 360€

Maintenance for proof - 300€ X 6 = 1800€

2nd Tire Game - 480€

Total costs: 3360€
