The "Take me to paint" initiative with the participation of 20 children between 6 and 14 years old from New Futures Association (Children and Youth welcomes private safe family environment) based in Boksburg.

ARTSWR is looking to move to the physical space, with the objective of divulging the portuguese art and culture.  It was decided to create an event to help this process and, at the same time, to show solidarity for those in need. As the most creative minds must be developed from an young age, we will share this moment with the younger ones. In this case, the ones who live with dalily restrictions and should, for that reason, experience the possibility of mental and emotional freedom.

Objectives

• Give an opportunity to children to acquire a taste for artistic creativity. Take them to a new environment, helping them to evolve not only mentally but also socially, through sharing.

• Create the chance for them to intervene freely in a space where they can use their creative spirit, making this a moment of pure mental and emotional freedom that will make them understand that we all have the will to create, to show how we feel through the various forms of art, even in the simpler forms of coloring or drawing.

Who’s involved

The initiative “Leva-me a Pintar” will have the participation of 20 chidren, between the ages of 6 and 14 years old, from the Associação Novo Futuro, based in Algés. The initiative consists in an afternoon of live painting with the presence of 3 or 4 portuguese plastic artists, invited to draw a mural with contoured illustrations so the children can paint them in different colors  and complete some drawings, as if it was a wall size coloring book.

About the author

In February, Bruno Teixeira and Mário Ventura decided to create a project that would unite all the other projects connected with the arts in wich they had allready collaborated together. The initial idea was to share things they liked with others, but soon they started to get requests to divulge others projects on their blog.

From that moment on it became clear for both of them they could have some influence on the arts and culture world. And that was how the project became a quickly growing collective with the goal of promoting cultural dissemination.

Art somewhere” (later officially registered as a brand, under the name ARTSWR) was born. The sleeping monster created during an hard night of work came to life and started to sahere with the world some of the best things that are made in it.

No member of the team is paid or gains any kind of profit with the project. Everyone takes the time they can to be a part on this and do what they like the most, in other words, to be involved in the art and culture world.

The team consists of:

  • Bruno Teixeira
