These pleasant places where we like to walk around, or to stay and contemplate only, carry with them a little of the history of the people and the times in which they were built. Although it was built in 1814, the first public garden in the city no longer exists. After that, other gardens were built, destroyed, abandoned and forgotten; and once socializing places soon they became passageways: the Port of Pipas garden, the Corte Real garden...
My purpose with this book is to rescue the memory of these places and to return them to everyone´s knowledge.
I collected a lot of information and images about how the people from Angra accompanied the scientific and artistic world and built their outer leisure spaces and, more importantly, how they used them. For this reason, the subjects in this book are the following
The Public Promenade of Alto das Covas, or S. Gonçalo
The Field of Grass
The Porto de Pipas garden
The Agricultural Society experimental farm
The Duque da Terceira public garden
The Corte-Reais Garden
Monte Brasil - the City Park
Small projects and afforest and decoration campaigns
The Civil Government garden
The Episcopal Palace garden
