Portugal Bugs is a start-up born at the University of Porto, pioneer in Portugal in the creation and transformation of insects for human consumption. Our main objective is to be the first Portuguese company to be able to place insect products in the national market and to do this we need some help.Although the subject may seem strange, regular insect consumption (entomophagy) is already practiced by more than 2 billion people around the world and it is a mistake to think that it is only in Asians who consume them. This trend has been growing among the Western community, not only out of curiosity to try something new, but also because the breeding of these animals has a much lower environmental impact than the animals we usually consume.
Convinced that insects will play a very important role in the future of human food, we started our project in 2016 in our garage, and we have been growing year after year and we currently have a pilot plant for insect production in Matosinhos.
Now we think it's time to take a step forward and be able to finish building the image of our products and move forward with the production of a few thousand insect bars.
This campaign will serve to meet the costs of producing our protein bars, so we can introduce it to the market.
In addition, this campaign is a pioneer event at the national level because for the first time we can provide insect products to those who want to support us.
