We aim to raise funds to produce the video for “Passeio Higiénico”, music that is an imaginary walk through Porto during the state of emergency.
We aim to raise funds to produce, direct and post-produce the videoclip for a track called "Hygienic Walk". This song, written and produced under my new alias, peak pocket, fixes and transforms some impressions manifested in short walks I had across the city of Porto (Portugal). Such walks took place during state of emergency, a period when Portuguese government limited free movement to 15 minutes per day due to COVID-19 pandemic crisis. This track is aesthetically influenced by hip-hop and electronic music.
I have been imagining the possibility of associating “Hygienic Walk” with new images since I started to write the song. Thus, this campaign arises as a real opportunity to materialize such transformation: here's the reason why I am now asking for your contribution!
I joined Diogo Ferreira for conceiving this video clip since we shared a large part of confinement days and collaborated on several projects throughout the last seven years (Damaia dj'acaba ma inda nu sta pa li, Clandestino ou Homem Novo, Ponto, One Minute Pandemic, etc). By taking into account the coverage of the circumstances which started last March with COVID-19 pandemic, we realized we could try to make our visuals 'travel abroad'. What do we mean by this? We intend to create an uninterrupted tour between Porto, São Paulo and La Paz, in which a 'universal citizen' is obliged to deal with different elements imposed by local governments. The 'hygienic walk' became a common experience in different parts of the world and the only possible escape from mandatory lockdown: in Portugal, going out of home was only allowed for a maximum period of 15 minutes; in Bolivia, each citizen had the right to go out only a day per week and such decision would rely on citizenship's personal data. Suddenly, using drones became legitimate and normalized for police forces to encourage citizens to stay at their homes. Abrubptly, in the context of a global crisis, governments ended up taking powers they did not meet under normal circumstances.
The opportunity to exchange ideas with visual artists who were confined in Brazil and Bolivia made us rely on the variety of ways used to regulate these limited walks. It thus led us to invite such artists to collaborate creatively on "Hygienic Walk"'s video clip. This collaboration will include the shooting of two scenes in the cities of La Paz and São Paulo, as well as some technical development of the film's special effects: facial recognition, drone as a scenic element of video surveillance and... deep fake, a proccess which synthesizes images and / or human sounds based in artificial intelligence techniques!
We intend to create an audiovisual object that departs from Portuguese reality and crosses different elements verified in other parts of the world. We want to create an opportunity for reflecting by using fragments of the unusual moments we are commonly living in right now.
We invite you to listen to the music and contribute to the creation of this international 'hygienic walk'!
