Misericórdia da Amadora is a Private Social Solidarity Institution with 33 years of existence. We are recognized by the Community for shortening distances between People, and between People and services, for making bridges between children and the elderly, for connecting, through affections, different cultural identities, for being close, in a discreet and determined way.
In times that call us to the contingency of physical social detachment, not only did we maintain our direct support to the senior and most dependent population, in the context of Home, Home Support Service and Continuing Care, but we also extended that support to over 80 People in the Community who their socioeconomic situation worsened, thus reaching 620 people daily in this challenging time.
This maintenance and expansion of services has inevitably led to an increase in costs and a decrease in revenues. This increase in costs is directly related to the increase in the number of people we support daily, as well as the high investment we have been making in the acquisition of PPE (when we have been able to do so) at speculative prices.
Because we only know how to be close to People who trust us a lot, because we know and like to know the importance that affections have on the daily courage of all of us, because we know that everything will go well (!), We want to guarantee our People, users , professionals and volunteers the Personal Protective Equipment necessary to be able to continue close to those who need us most.
That is why, in a Mission that belongs to All, we count on you, civil society, companies, institutions so that they can help us guarantee the protection of these affections, through donations that will be transformed into gloves, masks, glasses, boots and visors that , in turn, will be transformed by us into trust and security!

Misericórdia da Amadora is a Private Institution of Social Solidarity with 33 years of existence that, under the motto of Well Serving the Community, corresponds, daily, to the needs, expectations and preferences of 5800 People, in the areas of Health, Education, Social Support and 3rd and 4th Ages. The Institution has the following Social Responses in operation:
- Health: Medical Clinic and Integrated Continuous Care Unit
- Education: 5 Nurseries and 4 Kindergartens
- Social Support: Amadora Service and Social Service Center; Social Campus
- 3rd and 4th Ages: 3 ERPI, 2 Day Centers, 4 Home Support Services
Our team includes a team of professionals and volunteers, from the most diverse and complementary areas of expertise, who have in collaboration and motivation the main skills they place at the service of the Community.
In times of uncertainty and challenge, we have all seen with a smile on our face, the value of emotions, affections, concern for the Other. Because we are certain that this is the path of our evolution as People and Society, we count on you to be able to continue to positively influence the courage of our People!
Budget and due dates
SCMA, in line with its external social responsibility, assumes, as a premise, that the funds raised will also serve to acquire PPE that will be donated by us to partner institutions that are in a similar situation of challenge in relation to their acquisition, as other Misericórdias, the AFID Foundation, Parish Centers and others.
The materials and equipment needed for 30 days are:
- Surgical masks- 300 / day = 9000 €
- Masks FFP2- 50 / day = € 5250
- Nitrile gloves with long barrel-2-100 / day = 720 €
- Normal barrel nitrile gloves - 400 / day = 450 €
- Batas- 400 / week = 2400 €
- Goggles-300 = € 1050
- Waterproof high boots - 300 pairs = 6000 €
- Alcohol Gel 1 L - 130L = € 2080
- 70º alcohol - 70 packs of 250ml / week = 350 €
- Caps - 4500 = 450 €
PPL is not charging any fees for this campaign except for the payment costs
