Following the floods, the access bridge to the platform broke and eventually sank. After the storm, the structure was at the bottom of the river, and has since been removed with the help of the Municipality. Furthermore, the platform itself is currently quite unstable, indicating that the supporting chains may be damaged or even loose.
This situation has been ongoing for about a month, preventing athletes from carrying out their regular sports practice and creating serious constraints on their performance and athletic preparation.
It is important to emphasize that this pontoon is a fundamental tool for the development of the club's sporting activity and for the training of its athletes. Its unavailability therefore has a very significant impact on the association's sporting dynamics.

The Alcoutim Sports Group was founded on July 4, 1948, and has since then developed continuous activity in service to the local community, promoting sports, youth training, intergenerational interaction, and the social and cultural development of the municipality.
Throughout its existence, the club has established itself as a structuring institution in the community life of Alcoutim, playing a fundamental role in promoting healthy lifestyles, social inclusion, and the enhancement of the territory, particularly in a municipality with low population density, where opportunities for access to organized sports are naturally more limited.
The association currently develops various sports and initiatives, most notably Canoeing and Trail Running, with registered athletes of different ages and competitive levels, many of whom have achieved highly meritorious results in regional, national and international competitions.
It is also important to highlight that some athletes from the Alcoutim Sports Group have been called up to participate in training camps and activities with the National Canoeing Team, a fact that demonstrates the high level of competitiveness achieved and contributes to the projection of the municipality of Alcoutim in the national sports scene. In addition to the competitive aspect, the club promotes a strong social and educational component, ensuring conditions so that young people from the municipality can practice sports regardless of their economic status, providing transport, supervision and logistical support to athletes.
