FUNtoche is preparing for a new solidarity mission. In April 2025, we will return to São Tomé with a simple but vital goal: to build bathrooms for families who still live without basic sanitation.
Our goal is to raise €5,000 to build six bathrooms, improve sanitation conditions and, above all, provide dignity and health to those who need it most.
Throughout this mission, the FUNtoche team will work with local communities, also providing moments of joy and fun for children.
We will provide support and funds for the construction of the bathrooms. We will not be the ones to build them. Their construction will be carried out by the NGO Jocum , which has a day center and has been working with the community of São Tomé for several years.
We count on your help to raise the funds needed for this mission!
About the author
FUNtoche is a children's entertainment company, based in Sintra since 2010.
It all started with Andreia and Paulo Fernandes in 2002, when they discovered their talent for captivating and making children smile. From then on, they decided to dedicate their weekends to hosting children's parties in various parts of Greater Lisbon, thus acquiring vast experience in this area.
In 2010, they gave wings to their dreams, giving them a name and a life: FUNtoche was born! From the beginning, they had clearly defined the objectives and values that they wanted to convey at each party they held. The FUNtoche team was gradually formed in all areas and, based on this sustainable growth, today we are a FUNtastic team of 50 entertainers.
Soon after FUNtoche was founded in 2010, the opportunity arose for us to join a trip to Mozambique, where the focus was to bring joy and a little of what we knew how to do to those unique and special children. Many of them had never seen a balloon or a clown.
This left us with the desire to return to Africa and, one day, make a difference again. In 2017, the opportunity arose again to challenge our team and travel together to São Tomé and Príncipe! In partnership with the NGO Jocum (Youth with a Mission), we went to encourage the children of the villages and lay the first stone in the construction of bathrooms for native families, who have no basic sanitation.
In 2018, we returned to Africa, this time to Mozambique, taking funds to buy special wheelchairs, adapted to the type of African soil.
In Portugal, we have been committed to volunteering in the Pediatrics Department of the Hospital de Santa Maria since 2017. FUNtoche is involved in daily partnerships with “Make a Wish” and “Terra dos Sonhos”.
Budget and due dates
A bathroom that uses rainwater will serve a family and will have a total cost of €750.00 (material, resources, labor).
We will have a deadline to collect a total of six bathrooms.
The trip will be in April 2025, so let's hope that we can achieve our goal by then!
