In Erasmus, every week feels like a whole month, and it's hard to keep up with everything. We want to create a place where you can record all these adventures while you live it - and go back in time when you miss it.

My Erasmus Journal was born out of this need - a physical companion to record not only the events, but also the feelings, thoughts and little details that make each Erasmus week unique. This journal is designed to accompany you throughout your adventures, with questions to inspire reflection, space for notes and sketches, and even sections to document cultural knowledge and new words learned.

My Erasmus Journal - Hard Cover

We are preparing special features for your Erasmus Journal, so it will not be a simple diary or planner, but rather a companion with which you can interact during your experience abroad. You will find things like:

  • An interactive map to show where you've been;
  • A place to stick photographs, notes, cards and mementos;
  • Write down your favorite words, expressions and cultural clashes;
  • Pages for messages/signatures from your friends;
  • Spaces for free creativity .
  • A weekly journal to record your adventures;
  • Intro pages to write about your expectations and plans;

We have already defined the characteristics of the diary and we are designing its interior to make it truly unique. It will be an A5 sized diary (14.8x21cm), in color, with glued pages.

MEJ + Photos

The first edition of MEJ will be in Aveiro, Portugal, a vibrant university city, full of colors, young people and distinctive things that make this city truly special. In the future, we want to have a special cover for each city we expand to, such as Porto and Lisbon!

For now, the Journals are only available to people in Aveiro, and delivery will be done by us. Follow our Instagram page to stay updated.

As for this crowdfunding campaign, we will start with the hardcover version - your memories should be kept in a safe place. It will be a great addition to your bookshelf after Erasmus!

About the author

Hello! My name is Victor, I am an international student living in Portugal for 2 years. I have a passion for travelling, languages and marketing, which is my field of study. Having lived in three foreign countries so far, I feel like sharing my international experiences and really immersing myself in projects like My Erasmus Journal.

This year I managed to make one of my biggest dreams come true: to do an Erasmus in Spain for 5 months. I noticed that everything went by very quickly and a lot happened every week, especially on weekend trips with friends. I would love something like MEJ to take notes and describe my experience in detail, so this was my biggest inspiration to start.

Victor - Creator of MEJ

Feel free to use the Journal however you like and I hope we can help you make your Erasmus adventures last a lifetime!

Budget and due dates

Our crowdfunding project will work as a way to kickstart MEJ with a minimum funding of €500. We are using PPL as a way for you to pre-order MEJ:

  • Here at PPL we work on an 'all or nothing' concept , meaning that if we don't reach the minimum funding of €500 to start the project, all the money goes back to you, the funders! This ensures that you won't lose any money if the project doesn't actually start. We want you to feel as confident as possible about your decision.

The €500 will translate into a net value of €453.88 after PPL commission . This amount can cover up to 50 copies of the Journal, but reaching 100 copies would be the perfect scenario (spread the word!).

Current status of MEJ:

  • We found the printers with the best budget and defined our costs;
  • We are in the final stages of the design, with the internal characteristics already defined;

Here is the project schedule:

  1. In the first week , we want to spread the word about MEJ as quickly as possible. We already have an Instagram page with more content and a showcase of features, so be sure to follow us there!
  2. In the second week , we will have the interior design ready. We already have it in sketch form, complete, but we are missing additional design details.
  3. In the third week we hope to have met the minimum budget of €500.
  4. In the fourth week , we want to surpass the 100 units mark. In the fourth week, we will send the orders to the printer. The estimated delivery time is 8 to 10 days after ordering.

This way we will have everything ready before Christmas, so you can give your best Erasmus friend a gift!

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • You can contact us if you have any problems with your Journal (e.g. printing problems), and we will take all measures to resolve the issue.
  • Don't forget to include a contact option that you use regularly, so that we can get in touch with you when we have your Journal ready. We will contact you several times if necessary, or you can contact us in any case!
  • Delivery is done by hand, by us, in Aveiro, Portugal. We will have a big meeting with all those who bought, so we deliver their Journals and celebrate!
