I am determined to publish my Father's new work, this time the novel " At the Edge of the Earth and the Sea ", with an unavoidable nuance: it is a surprise, and he has no idea what I am doing. So don't say anything please! : D

Mostly, I believe in your talent. The hypnotic and apparent simplicity of his writing, intertwined with the creation of scenarios and highly captivating characters make " Nas Edges of the Earth and the Sea " a delightful reading, where fiction intertwines with reality with remarkable elegance, where the author it portrays a story that, in part, is also his.

And the surprises for my Father do not end here! I managed to schedule a book launch event at the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo (also known as the Codfish Museum), in May (pointed to the 22nd, but still needing confirmation), within the scope of the International Museum Day, an event for which are already invited, and where I insist that they make their presence felt!

About the author

My name is João Simão Gomes, and I am organizing this campaign. My Father, Fareleira Gomes, is a very prolific writer, author of 7 works, with two of them published:

• " Anonymous Experiences Described in Cordel ";
• " When an Angel Sins ".

While the first is a biographical work in memory and honor to his grandfather (and my great-grandfather!) Joaquim Fareleira Gomes, the second is a historical novel that passes during the republican transition, and addresses the story of one of the heroes brought back from the traumatic World War I experience.

All of his novels have a strong historical background, which is necessarily preceded by a rigorous investigation, which we know is part of the charm that our Father has for writing, since he is also passionate about history, and even more passionate about his Portugal.

" At the Edge of the Earth and the Sea " is a tribute to all those who, with bravery and formidable determination, put their lives at risk to ensure not only the livelihood of their families, but of an entire country, at a time when the harsh conditions of the work, was not proportional to the technological advances and amenities present in fleets in other countries. It is also, therefore, a tribute to all who fought, fight and will fight for progress and for Freedom, a condition that today is taken for granted.

Having endless pride in my Father, for the writer and especially for the Man that he is, I am absolutely determined to give him the honor he deserves, and to have the opportunity to embrace him, and to tell him how important his legacy is to me.

Budget and due dates

The pre-sale campaign will begin on 15 November 2020 and end on 15 January 2021.

Since I am very convinced that the campaign will be successful, the editorial process is planned to start in early February. After communicating with the publisher, it was determined that this process will take about 2 months, so it will be finalized at the end of April, precisely the time of my Father's birthday. It is at this moment that I will make you the big revelations: I will offer you a I can only imagine his reaction when I see him unwrap it and come across his own work. You will be ecstatic! Then the second surprise, the official invitation by the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo to receive the launch event of his work. It will be a day that he and I will never leave for sure, and you will be part of that moment forever.

By contributing a small but very important € 10 , you will be purchasing a copy of your work, " On the Edges of the Earth and the Sea ", which will then be published with a date scheduled for the end of April 2021, and released weeks later, in a simple but very felt ceremony in the most appropriate place that could exist: the Museu do Bacalhau, in Ílhavo.

The publication of the book will be in ebook format and in the classic book format. It will be published by 5livros.pt , and will have a cost of € 750 (amount to which will be added € 80 for the use of this platform).
