Livros de Ontem is pleased to present you the new book by Luísa Fresta, winner book of the Women's Prize "A Bouquet of Roses for You" organized by MAAN.
March between Meridians is a hybrid between visual arts, implicitly, and poetry. It is a synthetic book consisting of three branches which I have called notebooks and which were born in different ways at different times. The first notebook (POST CARD) was written looking at photographs by Paula Sant'Ana, Luso-Angolan artist and teacher; the result was a set of sonnets with my interpretation of the images, translated into ideas that quickly lined up in small armies of words. It was a fluid, pleasurable, and spontaneous exercise; (this technique, with some variants, had already been used in Contexturas, a book of short stories based on paintings by Armanda Alves). Book II (VERSES CHRISTMAS AND OTHER HISTORY OF [EN] CANTAR) contains mostly free verses, centered on the themes of Christmas, rebirth and exclusion; I tried to select texts with this common base, poems that had a level language and a shared concept. The third notebook (WORDS PAINTED ON THE SCREEN), like the first, results from the observation of canvases, in this case Ysabelle Roby-Pétrel, a French plastic artist; abstract art gives us a greater margin to digress and that is what I did, focusing on color and texture. March between Meridians is thus a work that marks my gender commitment to all the Women of the world and their / our various struggles ("March" of the calendar, it is rain or spring and it also brings a symbolism that we all embrace). "Among meridians" because poetry can also be this way: a mutant, mutant and traveling language, which knows no boundaries, pregnant here with Angolanity, in small subliminal notes.- Books / Magazines
