"Clothes that are thought for the people, in their well-being and comfort. It respects the environment, the workers, society and individuality. "
The biggest problem of most clothing, is not imperfect sewing, but:
- The pollution,
- precarious working conditions
- the ease how it is discarded
- the social pressure and inflexibility of "sizes"
Fortunately, there are already several clothing brands in Portugal that are worried about changing some of these factors. But ... there is not much diversity in styles.
"Kalium", the new synonym for "different design", is ecological and ethical, with a minimalist style but with creative and fun details, using mainly monochromatic colors that are easily conjugated and make the pieces timeless. Through printed illustrations are told legends and stories that should never be forgotten. It is a pain to find the right size for our body, because it must be the clothing to adapt to us and not the other way, that is a problem for which I want to find a solution. Parts that are thought of in the human being, in their well-being and comfort.
And as we do not like disposable, we also have "Zero Waste" accessories.
About the author
I am Katia, (yes, with "K", because I am Portuguese but was born in Germany) and since I remember I love to draw and do creative work. At the age of 12 I decided that I wanted to be a fashion designer because I saw in the creation of clothing a way of making "living drawings" that people could use. I studied "Fashion Design" at the University of Beira Interior, I had the pleasure of interning in Storytailors studio, I worked in a clothes factory and now I want to fulfil my dream of being an entrepreneur and giving society a product that respects nature and the human being.
Budget and due dates
- In December 2017 I started "Kalium" with the "test" collection, called "Ataegina".
- To improve the knowledge about management and entrepreneurship from March 2018 until January 2019 I participated in the "Empreende Já" program and the "Creative Business Studio" (Impact Hub). - Mid-January "Kalium" returned to active, having a workspace in the "Incubator – A Praça" in Fundão.
- At this moment I am launching with new pieces the collection "Trebaruna", which is for sale through our social networks, soon through the online store and we are looking for stores to resell in Portugal as in other countries.
To continue producing the current collection and the next I need to:
€ 2000
Due to the expenses of:
- Production + purchase of fabrics (ecological) = 1600
- Marketing Support = 215.5
- Commissions PPL = 184.5
This support will be used both for, in May 2019 continue to produce this collection, as well as to design the collection of Autumn / Winter 2019/20 during the summer of 2019.
With the collection "Trebaruna" we are supporting the " Instinto – Associação Protetora de Animais da Covilhã " through each piece sold or for each reward in this crowdfunding.
Your contribution is not only important to this collection, but also to continue my work on "Kalium", which is why in addition to being able to buy my products, you can get a discount.
If we can reach the goal, the helpers can choose their prize from both the current collection (which will have versions of summer pieces in June), t-shirts from the previous collection (while there is stock) and the next, which I would like to release between September and October. Attention, that as mainly use surplus, parts are limited. However they are then produced in the same fabric, if there are still more surpluses, or in others. This leads to each product having more identity and being more exclusive.
