Sponsorship of a guide dog

The ABAADV-Guide Dog School for the Blind is based in Chão do Vento, Mortagua Municipality. The scope of the Association and in particular the Guide Dogs educated there is national and is the only entity of its kind in Portugal.

There are always around 40 dogs in training from newborns to those ready to be delivered to the blind person. Any person / entity can contribute to the training of these dogs through donations for their food, vaccinations, deworming, equipment and the daily work they have with them from handling and leisure at school to passing through the pre-educator while in the field. Host family as after with the educator in real context of daily work in the cities.

The recipients of our Mission are visually impaired citizens whom we can improve the quality of life in the performance of our Mission.

Using the Guide Dog for the Blind as a technique is based on the safety, speed and autonomy of its User. Moreover, with the continuity of the work, evolution, development and size of the activity, it is now totally and unequivocally recognized that the use of the Guide Dog induces very strong factors and objectives of social integration and increased self esteem.

The help received from all the FRIENDS of the institution, namely in the form of Social Patronage (as framed by Decree-Law 74/99 of 16 March), is the expression of a gift that, improving the financial capacity of those who need it to educate More Guide Dogs comply with the ethics of social responsibility and help more beneficiaries have their Guide Dog.
