Facing sport as a philosophy of life allows our students to expand their horizons and succeed in life! BE PART OF OUR CAUSE, BE ALSO A CHAMP! Objectives:
- Socially integrate around 200 children and young people in situations of social vulnerability through sport;
- Promote academic success through support for study and English classes;
- Helping in the process of choosing a future professional ( coaching and mentoring sessions);
- Create training and employment opportunities for young people, through access to good practices from companies or partner entities.
We want to raise awareness, make our work known, and that is why we are launching the challenge: join us and help Academia dos Champs to make an impact in the greatest number of lives.
About the author
Our mission is to socially integrate, using sport as a training and monitoring tool for children and young people in situations of social vulnerability.
Sport conveys values of teamwork, healthy competition, respect, standards of conduct and many other principles. In this case, using tennis as a tool is an innovative way of instilling guidelines in young people, helping to combat everyday problems, which are aggravated by the economic and social situation in which they usually live.
In addition, the commitment to an inaccessible sport and with little penetration in the areas where Academia dos Champs operates, is our contribution to the democratization of access to sport, as an individual right of every citizen. By putting into practice the maxim of “SPORTS FOR ALL” – in this particular case, it is demonstrated that tennis can be played by all young people. Tennis lessons provide a different context from the one in which lessons are normally given to young people, helping to break down some barriers.
The informality and the strong connection created between teachers and students, reinforced by the individual character of the sport, allow for technical teaching, but also a greater and more effective development of the emotional and behavioral aspects of children and young people.
