The edition and sale of 250 copies of the book will be reversed in favor of the families of the victims of the collapse of the old Royal Road
This project is about the former "Estrada Real", which was the link between Borba and Vila Viçosa and whose section collapsed last November 2018.
The document to be published contains relevant facts about the use of this path for centuries, before the industrial development of the twentieth century, which profoundly altered the landscape.
The description of these episodes, reported in several chronicles and documents of the nineteenth century, indicates to us that this was a privileged way, used by Kings and Queens, as well as for commercial transactions. This work contains some images and maps of the XVII, XVIII and XIX century, in which the road is highlighted as the fundamental axis in the communication between the two localities.
It can be an important argument in the defense of the requalification of this route, pointing to the tourist use of this unique landscape.
The research highlights the fact that various issues can be analyzed on the need to safeguard a road associated with a very relevant heritage for the area of marble.
The objective is to advance to the edition and sale of 250 copies, making the profits of this operation revert to the families of the victims.
