Promotion of the first Book Fair in Sao Tome and Principe, with books focused on the topics of human rights and developments as well as classics of African and International literature.
Throughout the last few years, Civil Society Organisations (OSCs) from Sao Tome and Principe played a fundamental role in raising awareness for the Human Rights issue in the country. Simultaneously, through advocacy campaigns, frequent dialog with local and national authorities and the monitoring of public policies, they facilitated improvements in good governance.
This year, ACEP and several santomean organisations want to organise the first "Citizenship fortnight", in the last two weeks of November, in order to promote citizens' participation in the São Tomé and Príncipe democratic life, through culture and public debate.
For that, we will organise concerts, book launches, movie sessions, theatre plays, conferences and debates. Besides that, we want to organise the first edition of a BOOK FAIR, focused on the topics of Human Rights and Development. All publications will be sold for a token price.
The Citizenship Fortnight is integrated in the project "More Participation, More Citizenship", financed by European Union and Portuguese Cooperation. However, the creation of a Book Fair is not comprehended in the budget. For that reason, we ask your collaboration until the 5th of October.
