The Social Center of the Parish of Mocarria lost, in a road accident, one of the vans with which it provided support to the elderly in the region. Help us to acquire a new van so that we can continue to support our users.
December 9 was born rainy in Moçarria, Santarém, Portugal. Isabel and Maria José went more or less in the middle of their return, visiting their 18 old men, who waited 6 times a week for their hygiene and for a few minutes of company and affection. There were more than 80 kilometers daily through the parishes of Mozarria, Almoster, Malaqueijo - Azambujeira and Várzea - Romeira. Renault Kangoo from the Social Center of Freguesia da Moçarria has seen better days, but the joy and willingness to help charged the batteries. Around noon, at a more inclined intersection in Vila Nova da Babeca, the slippery floor and poor visibility led to a collision with another vehicle. They went to the hospital, Kangoo went to the scrap yard.
The old people were running out of support, were it not for the dynamism of the Junta de Freguesia, which promptly lent a van to unveil this very important support. But it is a transitory solution, as this van does not have the same conditions as Kangoo and, when doing this service, others are stopped and customers are waiting. The feet are covered, the head is uncovered, and vice versa.
A new van is expensive, costs 25,000 euros, and insurance money is little or no.
The Kangoo accident is a major setback for the Center's ability to continue to support a poor and aging population. “The dream rules life” is his motto, but sometimes it is difficult to dream with your feet on the ground.
So this is our time, to make the dream come true, to lend a hand to the Social Center of Freguesia da Moçarria and make Good happen. If each of us helps with 20 euros and pass the message on to our closest friends, we will all be able to get a new Kangoo together to support the old people in Moçarria and the surrounding area.
