Campaign for legal support to Dr. Rafael Macedo who reported irregularities at the Hospital Central of Funchal in Madeira in the report of Alexandra Borges on TVI
I denounced irregularities and indications of certain crimes of negligence and mismanagement of the regional health service of the Autonomous Region of Madeira in a program of Alexandra Borges in TVI, on February 19, 2019. After this program was subjected to a parliamentary hearing in the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira and, for having said the facts that support my denunciations, I was subjected to a disciplinary process and a suspension of my local work, which made the people who needed examinations of my specialty, mostly cancer patients, were unable to undergo surgery or to continue their urgent treatment. In addition, the public purse is also being harmed because they are paying exorbitant amounts to external entities when I could continue to carry out my work because I as a whistleblower would never do anything that would prejudice the investigation of the facts, as stated in the letter from my employer, SESARAM EPE
Once an investigation has been initiated by the Public Prosecutor's Office, and in Madeira democracy exists only on paper, I have had to hire a law firm, the office of Dr. Garcia Pereira in Lisbon, and this will have costs that will be large and like me I only work in the public hospital, I do not have the financial resources to cover these expenses, and so I turn to this project and your collaboration so that together we can improve the health services provided not only in Madeira but throughout the country.

I denounced irregularities in the hospital unit where I work in the written press of Madeira but the impact was almost nil, so I made the complaint in TVI which did have effects and aroused public opinion for what is happening in health in Portugal. There are means in the public stopped or half-gas and send patients to the private, which damages the public purse.

Budget and due dates
The principal purpose of the funds will be the payment of fees and expenses related to my defense by the law firm of Dr. Garcia Pereira. All expenses will be verified with the respective invoices that I will digitize and publish in my group of Facebook supporters: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2304671673109302/
The remaining amount will be used to support cases of people who have legal problems with the hospital entities of Portugal.
The transparency of all use of money will be my commitment to you.
Fundraising will probably last 2 month and my advocacy and resolution of the problem can take at least 6 months. This April I will be heard by the Public Prosecutor in the company of my lawyer and it is very likely that it will happen several times throughout the month.
My lawyer's visit to Madeira has a cost of approximately 1000 Euros (travel, stay, fees, transportation, etc) + court fees, that's why I need your help. Some advertising on Facebook will also be necessary for people to be aware of this initiative. My goal is for the National Health Service to serve all Portuguese better and together we are stronger!
