Singing the Kings and the Janeiras is a tradition that we maintain, this year we also sang at the window, to raise 10 thousand euros, which will help pay the installments of the bank loan for the construction of a dream, the Nursing Home.
PROGREDIR – Associação para o Desenvolvimento do Marão Ocidental, which has been dedicated to promoting the well-being and development of the communities of Ansiães, Candemil, Bustelo and Várzea, Aboadela and Sanche for over 20 years, is now facing one of the greatest challenges in its history: the construction of a Residential Structure for the Elderly (ERPI), Day Centre and SAD (Home Support Service).
This project aims to respond to the needs of our elderly, ensuring them a safe and dignified space to live, as well as a home support service that will allow the most independent to remain in the comfort of their homes, with the support they need.
It also aims to respond to a social need that the State itself has difficulty in addressing. Thus, in a missionary spirit, the entire team that makes up PROGREDIR aims to provide support to those who need it most, especially in areas of rural Portugal, where we find ourselves.
The work, which began in December 2023 and is scheduled for completion in July 2025, represents a total investment of 2.5 million euros. Around 1.2 million will be financed by the PARES 3.0 program, and the municipality of Amarante will contribute around 200 thousand euros.
However, PROGREDIR still needs to raise the remaining 1.1 million euros, which led to the launch of a campaign to raise support from its members and the region's populations and companies.
In this context, as has become customary every year, we go out onto the streets and sing the traditional Reis and Janeiras carols from door to door. This year, in 2025, we are innovating the tradition and, during the month of January, we will also do so virtually, through a crowdfunding campaign. We are making this appeal, inviting you to join this initiative by making a donation, with the aim of raising 10 thousand euros, which will help pay the installments of the bank loan for the year. Your support will not only be a contribution to ensuring the quality of life of our elderly, but will also be a gesture of solidarity that will endure in the memory of future generations.
The costs of the project are significant and include not only the construction itself, but also the acquisition of equipment and furniture necessary to ensure the comfort and safety of future residents and users. This investment reflects a joint effort by several entities to improve the quality of life of local populations, providing them with essential services and a welcoming environment.
Thanks to the generosity of a benefactor, we have been donated a 5,800 m² plot of land, where the project for this much-needed home for our community is being developed. This altruistic gesture inspires us to continue fighting for a more dignified future for our elderly.
The project in detail:
• Lower floor:
• 6 double rooms and 3 single rooms.
• Rest areas and changing rooms for staff.
• Laundry, food storage spaces and technical areas.
• Upper floor:
• 6 double rooms, 3 single rooms (ERPI) and 1 quadruple room (Day Center).
• Kitchen, living room, cafeteria, activity rooms, nursing and administrative spaces.
Singing the traditional Kings and Janeiras from door to door or, here, at the window, PROGREDIR wishes you a Happy New Year and thanks you for each contribution.
We invite you to be part of a dream that is within the reach of all of us, the construction of the Home, a space where our elderly will have the care, comfort and dignity they so deserve.
Because every brick counts, we accept donations of any amount, as every contribution counts towards making this project a reality.
Because together, we can Progress!
