A trip to Poland that accompanies Palhaç@s Sem Fronteiras España and brings laughter and hope to those who have lost their home.
The war in Ukraine has already displaced nearly 4 million people, according to UNHCR. Poland is the European Union State that hosts the most refugees (2.5 million) and the majority are women and children. Palhaços Sem Fronteiras are touring several shows in several municipalities on the Polish border (Przemysl, Medyka and Lublin, among others) and in the capital, Warsaw, with the aim of offering emotional and psychological support through laughter to hundreds of thousands of children (and their families) who fled the bombs.
It is not the first time that PSF Spain has faced the conflict in Ukraine. During 2018 and 2019, three expeditions have already been carried out in the east of the country and in the capital, Kiiv, to assist children displaced by the conflict in Donbass, which at the time had already caused the forced displacement of 1.8 million people. In total, 67 concerts were performed for 5,362 boys and girls.
Believing in the social function and community intervention of the art of clown art, our main objective is to create bridges with other areas of the world and bring our art to places where laughter can enable the inner transformation of human beings.
Expedição PSF ESPANHA
We see our action as a form of deep intervention with the communities. We believe that in Portugal this project can be very important in the sense of unifying artists and enabling greater interaction between companies and artists in the art of clowning.
We are currently in the process of being integrated into the international structure, officially sponsored by the nucleus of Clowns Without Borders Spain. The integration process will be long so that we can form and consolidate our structure.
Thus, Clowns Without Borders Spain invites two of our Colleagues and incredible Clowns to accompany this CARAVAN of LAUGHTER in June 2023.
For this, we count on your support to be able to finance the trips of these two volunteers who propose to bring laughter across borders and to take another step towards the dream of Palhaç@s sem Frontiers Portugal!

About the author
The desire to start the Palhaços Sem Fronteiras Portugal group was born out of the will of Nádia Zambujo, Sara Sofia Araújo, Eva Ribeiro and Catarina Mota, artists, clown women and activists, to create an artistic project of social and community intervention, joining efforts with the international project Clowns Without Borders.
Clowns Without Borders (CWB) began in 1993, when the Catalan artist Tortell Poltrona was invited to carry out an expedition in the refugee camp of Veli Joze (Savudrija) in Croatia by a collective of educators who were developing a program for peace in schools in the Catalonia and who were in contact with schools in the former Yugoslavia, which at that time was in a situation of war.
This experience laid the foundations for the creation of the entity, as it demonstrated the need and importance of carrying out artistic and socio-educational activities aimed at improving the psychological and emotional situation of the populations during and after the conflict;
