For a Rossio Garden more gree, with more people and less cars

Fundraise to finance contesting actions both formal and informal, pay for deslocations to meetings with public entities outside of Aveiro and payment of legal actions and juridic conselling

Since it was known the intention of the Municipality of Aveiro to build an underground park in the Rossio Garden that the Aveirenses joined in the defense of the Rossio Garden and surrounding area of the Beira-Mar neighborhood.
Initiatives have been promoted for formal and informal contestation, as well as monitoring and institutional pressure regarding the decision to implement the project.
Funds need to be raised to continue these initiatives. The funds are intended to finance formal and informal contestation of the project, payment of travel to meetings with public entities outside Aveiro, payment of legal actions and legal advice.

About the author

The Movement Together for Rossio is a spontaneous movement that was born in 2017 as a consequence of the first public news about the intention of the City Council of Aveiro to build an underground park in the Rossio Garden. There was a concentration of residents and shopkeepers in September and it was then that efforts were begun to join forces against this initiative. Among the initiatives promoted by the Juntos by Rossio include public petitions, protests, demonstrations and public debates. The Movement is one of the founding members of the recently created A4 (Open Association of Aveiro Associations) and which includes the ACA Commercial Association of the District of Aveiro, the civic group PLATAFORMA CIDADES, CICLAVEIRO, and CORDA (Association of Rua Direita).

Budget and due dates

The funds are intended to finance formal and informal contestation of the project, payment of travel to meetings with public entities outside Aveiro, payment of legal actions and legal advice. These activities will take place in 2018 and 2019.
