Seal to adopt

Tropeçadeira is growing little by little but needs an urgent fence to be able to adopt Cereja, which was abandoned in the village.

Tropeçadeira is growing little by little but needs an urgent fence to be able to adopt Cereja, which was abandoned in the village.

The Tropeçadeira project was born out of the enormous desire to achieve a self-sustainable, environmentally friendly structure that could accommodate several farm animals removed from slaughter. Manage to transform the farm into an animal sanctuary with a pedagogical function and environmental and animal awareness. Fencing the land became a priority from the moment an abandoned female dog was left in the village. We made every effort to make her as comfortable as possible, with food and water available, but without the fence we couldn't keep her safe, away from the roads and guarantee a warm bed.

We named the girl Cherry, as it was the first fruit tree planted this winter. We thought we were going to take it one step at a time until we received our first resident of Tropeçadeira, but Cereja accelerated everything, including our heart. We are already a family, we just need this step to keep her safe and give her a forever home.

I therefore appeal for your help to get the necessary material to fence off the land, manage to give Cereja a home and all the others that will come. The labor is in our charge and we will gladly do it with a smile on our face.

Thank you in advance!

About the author

My name is Maria and (to be precise) I will be 41 years old tomorrow. From a very early age I realized that the way I saw the world would lead me to make decisions about how to be in life, at the time, a little different. Giving up meat at age 14 was one of them, since the internet did not exist and I had never heard of vegetable protein!

Over the years I discovered a restaurant that opened in the city of Porto, where I am body and soul, born and raised, called Nakité. A vegetarian restaurant where I started working and where I learned a whole new world of flavors, smells, ingredients and where I understood the universe of vegetable protein sources.

I always had the dream of trying a little more, of thinking more broadly in this cause of mine, going beyond personal choices and adoptions. I always wanted a land where I could have space to plant, adopt and educate. In 2020 I decided that I couldn't postpone it any longer, after a health problem that left me without walking for 1 month and a half, when I finally got up, the notion of passing time became clearer than ever and the time to act is now. With a lot of struggle and a lot of support from my mother, who always believed in me, I managed to get a piece of land. I have raised every tree, every eco-construction, every new sprout coming out of the ground with the joy of a child when he sees the presents under the Christmas tree. I have friends who dedicate time and energy to help things move forward, deep down they give me love. And so we arrived at the point of this crowdfunding, where the fence became urgent due to another urgent situation, an adoption. The first of many in Tropeçadeira, we hope.

    Maria
