Rafael Pombo Cultural Center

Following the beginning of the peace process in Colombia, Rafael Pombo Cultural Center was created to promote peace education in one of the most dangerous cities in the country and in the world.

Through an artistic approach, children and youngsters are educated to the importance of values such as peace and respect. This approach also helps them develop skills for life and thus keeping them away from violence and conflict. Therefore this campaign is aimed at raising funds to support the center with cultural activities such as workshops, ateliers, artistic residencies and concerts, which help promote peace through art. The activities will happen in Palmira, one of the more dangerous cities in Colombia and in the world. Through art, we will promote intergenerational dialogue and strengthen the collective memory and identity, important to fight against violence. 

The proposed activities are open to the whole community but targeted mainly for children and youngsters.

About the author

Rafael Pombo Cultural center is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of 8 professionals within different areas such as education, music, audiovisuals and communication and supported by national and international volunteers that often join the project. 

It was created to support the activities of Rafael Pombo elementary school, an educational institution founded in 1969 and recognized by the Ministry of Education in Colombia. 

Budget and due dates

We need your support to raise funds for the following cultural activities:

• Workshops, activities and artistic residencies for a month: 500€
• Promotional material: 50€
• Didactic resources to support the activities:  50€

The main objective of this crowdfunding is to raise 600€ until May 22nd. The funds will be later deliver by Sara, who will join the project end of May.
